Hmmm. My biography is without a doubt strung here and there throughout my poetry but I can save you some time.

I was 5th of 6 children. I grew up in Iowa at a house where grass couldn't grow because of the children playing in the yard. Still I preferred to play alone. :) I'm kind to animals. I tend to love in reverse. I'll love you the moment we meet until you give me reason not to. There's more. There's so much more. Ed

The circle of poetry.

It seems for me that poetry has been a process all of it's own. As if seperate from me in the beginning, somehow merging along the way. Slowly. At first writing them for myself. Searching for and finding healing for whatever was bothering me at the time. Secretly almost like a love affair of sorts sharing them only with one or two of my very closest friends.

Then it became such that it could be kept secret no more. My love of it could not be kept silent any longer. And so risking everything and even expecting to be rejected I began to declare my love for poetry to anyone who might listen. And even to some who did not care either way at all. Each poem a seperate creation. I was and am like a mother giving birth complete with the pain albeit much different than the pain of an actual child. Oh how I love it when a poem begins to fly on it's own! Or when it's written for someone specifiic to a circumstance in their life and they LOVE it! It's the greatest feeling in the world that I found.

From silently and secretly to claiming and declaring my love from rooftops the next step was to deliver them in person. Poetry readings and open mic nights. Every chance I get. And now what?

Today I have started what will be my first attempt at a poetry contest here on poetrysoup.com. And for my first one I want it to be special. Therefore first prize will be a one year premium membership at poetrysoup. If they are not a member. If the winner is a member already they can either name a recipient for the prize to go to or I'll send them the money. My own lifetime membership here was a gift from a dear friend and now I am at a place to pay a little something forward. God bless And have a happy 4th of July. Please take a moment to remember not only our independance but those that died for it.  Ed

Suzanne I'm looking forward to getting to meet and grow lifelong friendships here at poetry soup. I am excited about this new venture. :) And while your gesture is a wonderful one I hope there's someone you know that cannot afford join that's deserving of a chance. I myself have only met a few people so far. Good luck! And it's so very nice to meet you.

Xcuse me! I can't let this one go!. I tried but I simply cannot! The above image is Edwin NOW all we have to do is "figure out" "how he got his back side in that inner tube?" I'm guessing it's a Mack Truck Tube but let us hand it to him...He is drop dead gorgeous and more importantly he can spell! LOL

Jan your absence is felt, and understood for what little I know. Never doubt how you are needed here at poetrysoup and on a personal level in my own life. And if ever I can help somehow. Drop me a hint. You won't even have to ask. I'll be there. :3 Hugs to you.

Thank you! I am waiting with baited breath to see how many see shadows as I do. Or if I am alone in my muse. I'm hoping to see you there! Ed

I know Muscatine!!!! I grew up in Marshalltown Ia. I used to deliver paint products to Muscatine. It would have been much more beautiful if I had known you were lurking around there somewhere :)

Edwin, my poetic journey has been very similar to yours. I am looking forward to your contest, my life time membership was also gifted to me and if I should place first, I would definitely pass the gift on
