Dementia I see you smiling there at me I wonder if we've met? You see I just can't help it, sometimes I just forget. They said I'd be here just awhile until I got a little stronger. I guess it's been two years ago but it might have been much longer. I lay awake at night sometimes, down the hall I hear their cries. Others that are just like me with that lost look in their eyes. The nurses all seem very nice and have sweet things to say. They don't know to me it seems it's a new nurse every day. I sometimes see a little boy and he's walking some old dog. It's like looking in my memory but seeing through a fog. They push me in this chair these days cause they say that I might fall. They keep track of everything, there's nothing I recall. I see you smiling there at me I wonder if we've met? You see I just can't help it, sometimes I just forget. Edwin C Hofert

this is a good poem on that awful disease, Edwin. I remember there was a contest a few months ago on this very topic. This would have done very nicely for it!
