I used to wonder, what’s worth my nickel? A day adventure on my bicycle. I’d look all around. My choice narrowed down. A large green pickle, or red popsicle

Yes, indeed. Whatever happened to those 'nickel pickles?' Not too long ago a store near me still sold 'em for a nickel. Those days B gone.

WOW! a true holdover from the good ol' days. I used to buy them at the Saturday movies. Have a great weekend. Bill

This was a terrific limerick. The pickles looks delicious. On a hot day, I'll choose the popsickle.

Seems like that popsicle is the winner amongst the readers here, Hilda. In the heat a popsicle hits the spot. Thanks for the visit and comments, my friend. Bill

I remember when a nickel could by me five licorice whips or a pack of Necco's candy wafers. Lol, Robert

Well I didn't not go back quite that far but for fifty cents my fave after bike snack was a Hostess fruit pie at Food Mart.

Me too, Marugu, the pickle was more the choice I'd make at the 25-cent movie show. I loved to eat those giant dill pickles as a kid. :-) Thanks for the visit and comment. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

A fun Memorick(memory limerick?), Bill. Just the thought of riding around gives some good vibes. With a pre- 1965 silver dime, worth around $2+, you could still buy both of those.

True, the value of silver has really gone up over the last 60 years. I sold a bunch of my coin collections once the bulk silver was worth more than the price coin collectors would pay. Thanks for the visit and comments, David. Have a great week! Bill

A nice stroll down memory lane Bill. Not sure you could buy either for a nickel today.

Hey Bill, You brought back such childhood memories! The struggle of choosing between a pickle and a popsicle for a nickel is so relatable. It captures the innocence and joy of those small decisions. The poem's simplicity is really effective. I'd love to hear more about the "day adventure" on the bicycle! - Blessings, Daniel

Those were some fun adventures for me. I never knew what I'd be up to. Usually just me and my bike (and my imagination). I always could find a way to make my day exciting. I paid the price when I got home, but it was still worth it. Have a great week, my friend! Bill

such a whimsical and fun Limerick, dear hubby. Oh, I remember wondering what to do with my nickel allowance. Pickles weren't an option, but a red popsicle=yes! Limericks and sonnets are your strong suits.

Thanks, for the encouraging comments, Sara. Sonnets I can see as a strong suit, but still not nailing the Limericks yet. Have a nice evening with your Sugar Bear, Cuddles Bear. Bill

I can remember go to the store to buy my mother her daily small, bottled coke, 5 cents ... then in 1957, 20% rise in price to 6 cents, shocking. Since Covid, 12 pack of 12 oz. cans of coke have gone from 4 12 Packs for $10 to 1 12 pack for $10. ridiculous increase over the short time span. Thanks for the visit and comments, Don. Have a great week! Bill

This poem captures a delightful sense of childhood whimsy and the simple joys of decision-making. The use of rhyme and rhythm adds to its playful charm. The repetition of sounds in "nickel," "bicycle," and "pickle, popsicle" enhances the musicality and lends a light-hearted tone to the piece. It vividly portrays the innocence of youth and the excitement of choosing between small pleasures. Overall, it's a delightful and nostalgic reflection on the moments that shape our memories
