Greetings fellow poets and creative entrepreneurs:
Before I began writing poetry, I received my Bachelor's degree in English, German, and Business Education. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling. For the majority of my life I was either a legal secretary, paralegal, or teacher. Although I was most content and purposeful as a high school teacher, from the time I was a little girl, I loved words intrigued by the tapestry one could create with them. When in high school, I dreamt of being a writer. That dream gnawed at me over the years. Finally when I retired from teaching, I began writing.
At that time, I began writing memoirs and to date have written over 200 memoir vignettes. I'm currently compiling them into an as yet unpublished book, Shoebox Stories. You may read some of them in my short story section of Poetry Soup. I'm grateful that many of these memoir vignettes have been published in anthologies and magazines including Good Old Days Magazine, Guideposts, and Chicken Soup for the Soul.
I've also written my first novel, Secrets at Dillehay Crossing, and hope to publish it in the coming year. Before publishing it, however, I'll need to perform some majory surgery on it. It's truly a work in progress. You may find those chapters also in the short story section of Poetry Soup
Recently, I began writing poetry and am thoroughly enjoying this new creative endeavor. I enjoy not only the creativity but also the commaraderie that I've found here on Poetry Soup.
By far, the most important part of my life is the life I share with my husband, Bill Baker. We married in 1983. Although we've experience rough times and rocky periods in our marriage, our love has always prevailed. He's my hero and soulmate. Without him, my life would be so empty. He adds adventure and spunk to our days, and I'm grateful for him and for the life we've shared.
Anyway, I ramble. It's a curse. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you soon in the "Soup."
