Contest Description

What to Submit?

I am looking for an acrostic that makes me FEEL like September and uses the acrostic title: September Falls. You can take this many ways: be nostalgic, melancholic, somber, humorous, romantic. . .just make sure the poem is acrostic. I don't want to see more than one line per each letter that spells downward the title (I like the first letter in each line bolded). For extra points with me, make your acrostic also be a traditional rhymed Sonnet in iambic pentameter. I noticed the title has 14 lines and it would be cool to see someone make a sonnet out of the title!

In my last contest, I was not as generous as usual with wins. This was due to sentence structure/punctuation and/or the way the theme was approached. I had hoped to see poems that conveyed the image of the emotion chosen not in too specific a way. A poem which personified being Happiness because of one's birthday, for example, would be too specific. In my current contest I will still be using the criteria of good sentence structure/punctuation(if used), imagery and/or originality and most importantly, simply the way I feel about the poem. I notice other sponsors being super selective in what they like, so I too am trying to be a bit more selective by going with poems that really dazzle me in my top picks! Those who know me, you know what i like! Good luck!
