Serene, the crisp of apple cider days Each morning lightly misted. Its mystique Perhaps a guise to hide from eyes the ways The pink hydrangeas rusted; chic to meek. Enticed, the chill does bring a woolen feel, Mature, the sun grows old by afternoon. Below persimmon skies of bonfire zeal Embraced in sweaters neath the moon, we swoon. Relinquish Virgo and the marigold For Libra sparkles in the sapphire night. As western winds turn cool and blue-jay-bold, Let’s reminisce love sonnets we did write. Like grapes on vines, we’ve ripened into wine, September lips, your champagne kiss on mine.

This is so clever of you to combine the flow of free verse, a competent rhyme scheme and a nod to a sonnet into your acrostic. Then there's the luscious word choices, a hallmark of your style. Your talent shines like the sun Suze

Dear Tom, actually, I'm not that clever.. I know, hard to believe right..? lol! But, the credit for cleverness belongs to our esteemed PS poet, Andrea D. In Andrea's contest details she added the optional challenge of writing this 14 line acrostic title in sonnet form. She is one clever chick! :) Thank you for your delightful comments, my uplifting poet friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Suze

Dear Susan, You have mastered the acrostic, which has such wonderful metaphors and flowing imagery. Many who write this style have trouble making the flow happen but not yours. I could read this several times and still find joy in how it reads and fills the mind. Autumn is such a magical time for me, and after absorbing your words, it makes it even more so. I know you have a winner! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dear Daniel, indeed, autumn is an enchanting time of the year for me. I have been an autumn girl since birth! It's especially more meaningful and poignant to me now as I am in the autumn of my life so the season takes on a more complex, intriguing array of layers and nuances for me. Thank you for your thoughtful and inspiring comments. I am honored by your visit and humbled by your thoughts. Warmest wishes my esteemed poet friend.. ~Susan

Well, you wrote it explicitly into this acrostic's second stanza: This is more sonnet than anything else, and a gorgeous one at that, my friend. Excelsior! ~ Gershon

Dear Gershon, my poet friend, thank you for your gracious visit and encouraging words. Your esteemed thoughts are a joy to receive. Andrea threw a twist into the contest details by challenging the participants to write an acrostic poem in sonnet style since the acrostic title (vertically) is 14 lines, so I thought that’s a very interesting challenge.. :) I’m so pleased you enjoyed my poem. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I don't know much about your weather, but here, September began early; grapes had to be harvested and processed. I loved your Champagne kiss. It was a marvellous acoustic, very emotional, and full of imagery. Best wishes for your contest.
