Ever since you wanted to look cooler,
better,
and prettier, from that day you chose to wear braces.
And you looked like every other 14year old boy in our school trying to get mature and masculine.
You were not the classclown anymore but the shy guy at the back, always getting pointed at the teachers to say what you have on your task.
Now you've done your work.
But still hidden it.
Ever since you chose that day to wear braces,
maybe you've become cooler, betrer and prettier.
But you weren't special anymore.
You now looked,
like everyone else.
We sat on a blanket under a big oak tree,
Just Johnny-boy and little ol' me.
We laughed and joked and had some fun,
Under that oak shading us from the sun.
Johnny put his hand deep in his pocket,
When he took it out, he was holding a pretty locket.
Wanted little ol' me to wear it around my neck,
but I had to give him a good long peck.
We looked at each other with a gleam on our faces,
But the bubble gum I was chewing was stuck to my braces!
Proctologist meets gorgeous female.
She’s a dentist who drinks ginger ale.
Both put their hands places
Most would not think was aces
One fixing bottoms, the other braces.
Life lost in saline streams
Straining to see
Possibilities in reams and streams
Crane to love me
Although I desire nothing unproven
In the world I grapple to save
From madness and sadness woven
In webs only the brave
Dare to challenge
In the open where nerves
Bent on revenge
Achieve rubbish that serves
No useful purposes
In improving prospects
For souls that befriend porpoises
Upon finding at their detriment suspects
Aren’t always guilty
Despite evidence claiming the world gets better
Now that the mighty
Grow less bitter
Engaging concerns
Thrown to back pages
For too long in urns
Where they rot for ages
Hoping dreams come true
For creatures great and small
Whose wisdom and freedom glue
Souls who can play ball
In efforts to fraternize
Erstwhile enemies
And modernize to incentivize
The growth economies
Need to plant sesame seeds
To grow goodwill
Through daring deeds
Whose efficient effects spill
To the general populace
Who longs for shelter
As technologies race
Forth to implement the letter
That signifies happiness
Flying into every quarter
Where it jettisons sadness
Drowning it into wintry water.
Like jewels on crowns
The little buddies sat in a row
Hands clutched together
Raring to go
Filled with intent
To put up a good show.
Weaving their magic slowly
Through days and nights
Sticking through thick and thin
Determined to fight
Facing all odds
To wipe out the blight.
As the operations drew to a close
And it was time to stop the force
The crestfallen buddies shaken, morose
Unglued, fragmented
After almost a year
Yet content, in a victory
Straighforward and clear
Were happy to see
The mouth break free
And smile winsomely;
No longer captive
To shame, or fear.

Contest Short story
My passion for writing and my profession(Orthdontics) created this short story.
Grandson got braces
None of those silver
Metalic shiny
Things of old
They come in colors now
So we were told
Smile came on his face
As this idea he embraced
Give me the green ones
Boldly he told
Now he has green teeth
To everyone greet with bold
