Anacreontic Verse Busy buzzing bees and beautiful butterflies sip nectar from pretty flowers in my garden. Colourful pansies, scented sweet peas, pink begonias and red carnations brighten the borders. I sit in the sun enjoying the warmth and beauty that surrounds me. Summertime - I just adore this season of the year albeit only for the few warm sunny rain free days that we get on my tiny isle in the UK! Congrats Jan. I flew into London once and the fog was so thick they had to tie a rope from the stairway of the plane to the terminal doors.

That's scary John - the worst flight we had was to the IOM when my son was about 10 weeks old and in a 'carrytot' car seat... the flying conditions were so bad the plane was delayed about 3 hours - in the end there were only about 8 on the plane.. They had to get a tractor to tow the plane to the terminal and the hostess had to walk with us as the carrytot was almost taking off in the gale force winds - scary... but we still moved to the Island lol :-) hugs Jan xx

I am totally a summer gal and the imagery of your lovely, descriptive words is amazing! You have captured the special moments of the season in all it's joyful simplicity. Most impressive once I read you are from the U.K. considering the rain you live with, like myself on the WestCoast of Canada! Beautiful write, you are a pleasure to read. blessings, lynn

Words don't have to be fancy or exotic to create stunning images. This lovely poem makes that point with compelling clarity. I enjoyed every word of it, Jan. Thank you for sharing it. hugs x x

I am just back from Galway and a visit to my eldesty brother Derek, Jan. He does sound for summer festivals and is convinced the weather patterns have changed to wet summers for ten years now. No wonder our childhood summers seem more sunny!

I'm with Demetrios, South Australian summers last for a while too. Though can become a little too hot. So much so that you end up inside anyway. Enjoy the warmth.
