The world was a new and a fearful place for all was mystery from land to sea of salvation there was no need, no trace and many say there was but, he and she. Then Om sounded, the Word was God to be thousands of years before mankind could scrawl thousands of years before Moses or Saul Om gave song to the throat of his creations two legged, four legged, to one and all Om gave the word to creatures and nations. Prajapatir vai idam agre asit Tasya vag dviitiya asit Vag vai paraman Brahman In the beginning was Prajapati (Brahman) With whom was the Word; And the Word was verily Brahman. (Krishna Yajurveda, Kathaka Samhita, 12.5, 27.1; Krishna Yajurveda, Kathakapisthala Samhita, 42.1; Jaiminiya Brahmana II, Samaveda, 2244) Also from Bhagwad Gita: 1500 BC “I am Om, the Word that is God.” The writing which form the Jewish bible were compliled from 2-5BC

Debbie, you have taken us on a sacred journey. I believe in the powerful vibrations of the sound of Om and also the written symbol. When many are gathered using Om anything is possible. I loved this Debbie. Congratulations on your well deserved placement with this gem.

I am a student of all religions there are many admirable and wonderful belief systems, as many as there are cultures in the world. And I like the site to have a world perspective. I trust in the higher power to decide what belief system to speak to his/her creations in.

Dizain's an interesting form to choose...''of salvation the was no need''...didnt quite understand the use of ''the'' here, perhaps it's 'there'...such spontaneous thoughts, and a lovely write.....

You bring so much more to the Soup than the rest of us....not only with such a poem such as this, but challenging and asking questions and making us ponder. I love also, reading the responses...and I learn from those as well. Thank you Debbie... I have been away too much lately, but see what I'm missing.

The word 'Om' has its own beauty and mystery. Om was existing when there was only chaos and this was nicely depicted by One great Indian Sufi saint Kabir said, " Jahiya kirtam Na hata, Dharti hati Na Nir, Utpal Pralay Na hata, Tab Ki Kahe Kabir." means “ Kabir is saying about the time, when there was no Earth, No water, and No doer or God, No beginning and even no End.” This wonderful word has tremendous power to change many things in any one’s life, irrespective of religion and belief. Continued in next ….Ravindra

Just sit empty stomach in the morning inhale a deep breath and with rounded lips start saying OooooooMmmmm with a humming noise. Practice it for 4-5 minutes only in t he beginning. It can take you to a new height of peace and tranquility. Great topic and great write my friend. The fear among many that reciting ‘Om’ can make you a Hindu is not correct. It only brings the real peace and tranquility and prosperity of mind. Love and best wishes always…Ravindra….D Guzzi
