Wind- For Contest

Standing atop Stanage Edge facing south to Hathersage millstone grit your barricade the elements and time have made brace yourself, no time to run clouds now cover noonday sun cooling air marauds the peaks through your hair and clothes it speaks stand your ground for what it's worth God's very breath now roams the earth shelter by the Cowper stone this not a place to stand alone wait for calm then walk the moss now nature's shown you just who's boss safely home you make a pledge no more to mess with Stanage Edge. For contest 'Wind', sponsored by Skat A 27th August 2015

Amazing pictures to go with this piece... The stones almost look like a large hand had stacked them there. Perfect for this write.

Thanks, Carol. The Peak district is a wonderful place, full of beauty and the occasional traps for the unwary. Viv x

Yes, nature is always in charge despite what we may want to believe. You are one great poet, sir! You have such an unusual style. You must lead an interesting and unusual life to write as you do. I can't recall anyone with quite the style you have, and it is just wonderful. Thanks for keeping us in touch with such wonder.

A very edgy write Viv...invites you into the beauty and then warns you of the danger. Well done

IMAGES that poem brings are awesome and the style you wrapped it in I find to be superb. I could see that "walk the moss" in my mind's eye and Nature tells me it is the boss every time I visit the forests and hills around here. Solid 7 my friend..A7

Thanks Robert. In this fast moving world, with all it's immediacy, nothing quite beats a good walk. Spring cleans the soul and puts a little perspective back. Thanks for dropping by. Blessings to you and yours, Viv

Good move, Lindsay, Stanage keeps the local mountain rescue busy all year round. Everyone who walks it is a hero. Until they get there. Thanks for dropping by, matey, regards, Viv

What can I say! Beautiful poetry!! #7 The visual is more than complimentary. I think we all feel the effect of that special line: "through your hair and clothes it speaks". ~ Have a nice day, Viv. // paul

Thanks, Paul, the High Peak really levels you- bleak, beautiful, beguiling, but an untamed mistress that doesn't suffer fools gladly. Several fatalities over recent years, but like the Lorelei in Germany still bewitches and beguiles the unwary. Still, walking it beats shopping at Tesco with my missus. I am fearless :) Regards, Viv

This sounds like a very neat place to be! I really liked the part: through your hair and clothes it speaks! Nicely done for the wind contest!

Thanks Andrea, although it doesn't talk much through my hair anymore. It is, as you can see from the picture, a beautiful place to be, but often catches the unwary. Cheers for popping by. Viv x
