Written for the prompt " Wild is the Night" sponsored by Edward Ibeh

Wild is the night, dressed in silk and satin, perfumed with opium drops of vanilla warmth~ a rippling reflection of dragon desires, where the heart sings in sync with the jasmine notes of soulful jazz and hypnotic hints of euphoric rhymes and mystical muse, while I sleep-waltz within the grasp of silence, engrossed in the crescendo of crooning cosmos, searching for a verse to voice the flames rising within my soul, aching to taste the clovers of hope that you’ve served in sparkling spoons~ once upon a wolf moon, when I was left to freeze like a tarnished topaz, lost in the cold caves of the scorpion sun. I am the prose, etched with ineffable metaphors, that remains a mystery to the eyes of kohl ice, oblivious to the love I write beneath wintry nights, as twilight serenades serenity, a mere song unknown to the forest that burns from the heat of the blazing breeze. Yet I fear not the wicked fangs of whirling storms, for I have long been the queen of darkness that thrives in the midst of conniving sands, soiled with deceptive dust. So let these thoughts contrive an antidote that sprinkles magic to illuminate the wind, slithering across the horizon, like heinous scales of the python prison, painted as a peridot paradise. Perhaps through the confusion, you'll feel my footprints~ longing for the softness of lavender, entwined with olive dreams...

“mystical muse, while I sleep-waltz within the grasp of silence, engrossed in the crescendo of crooning cosmos, searching for a verse to voice the flames rising within my soul,…” Dear Inky these words win the contest for me! Beautifully written! Congratulations on your top win in the contest with inspiring ink and wonderful word composition!

IE, your poem has a dreamy like quality that you convey using "sleep-waltz." I have often found that some interesting thoughts result from wrestling with issues and problems while asleep. Upon waking sometimes some solution appears almost magically that I was not consciously aware of before. You describe a rather dramatic set of goings on in your mind, which are really profound in some way. It makes me think that the activity in our mind that occurs at night is rather incredible and sometimes very helpful. Your poem could be the basis of your well-deserved PhD degree! You're making me smile!

Hi, Ink. Here is one I missed. Let me read and see. . .it's all very lovely but I think the first verse said so much and really captured the topic. Just that verse alone would have served well and with a few concluding lines added on. I sense another big time win for you with this one.

Dear Empress, I feel the poem is full of antithetical emotions and feelings of hope, love, frustration and despair. At times, "the heart sings in sync with the jasmine notes of soulful jazz and hypnotic hints of euphoric rhymes and mystical muse," But sometimes, you feel that you are "like a tarnished topaz, lost in the cold caves of the scorpion sun." Yet I see the glimmer of hope in this poem...."Perhaps through the confusion, you'll feel my footprints~ longing for the softness of lavender, entwined with olive dreams..." Thus the poem ends on a note of hope and optimism. I cannot write a comment matching with the depth and beauty of your language. So I am content with registering my deep appreciation for you as a poet of immense caliber and wish you the very best in life!

Dearest Ink Your outstanding verse explores profound emotions, desires, and the complexities of identity through the lens of love, longing, and creativity. It contrasts the beauty of the night and nature with internal conflict and a need for self-expression. It has amazing depictions of nightfall, nature, and emotions. And muses on sentiments of desire and hope, as well as the difficulties in articulating these emotions, utilizing symbols like as the moon, jazz, and natural elements. The poem's language is rich and evocative, with sensory nuances that create a vivid environment. Words such as "dressed in silk and satin," "perfumed with opium drops," and "hypnotic hints" elicit intense visual and physical responses. The use of phrases like "tarnished topaz" and "conniving sands" provides intricacy and depth, allowing the reader to explore opposing feelings. Warm hugs!
