Very profound piece, Paul. Am reminded a little of the "Riddle of the Sphinx" with winter paralleling the evening of life. Congratulations on your high-placement!

This Kimo speaks to a fear many have. Growing old seems scary because it is hard to do the simplest things as years fly by. If we're lucky, we have friends and family to help us drag "the full weight." Well said, Paul, and congratulations on your win

I agree with you Carolyn; there is nothing worse than starting to feel helpless and useless...and then there is fear of dementia...that would really be the cherry on the cake! Till then, let's try and keep our mind active and occupied:) Hugs // paul

Congratulations on your placement Paul - well written - very thoughtful - Old age is inevitable and the life we live adds to the burden we carry sometimes. Special day! Mark

Great kimo, Paul. The form fits perfectly - one can feel the weight dragging as the lines get shorter. Good luck on the contest. Agnes

Boy, I can identify with THIS Paul...VERY well done including a nice little twist at the end. Here in South Louisiana the summers are brutal and the winters are short but I find that the older I get the less I can tolerate either extreme...too hot or too cold. I see a sure winner here - Tim

Thank you, Tim, for a pleasant visit and the positive feedback. Like you, I tend to feel heat and cold, much more than in my youth, when they had little effect on me! Regards // paul
