Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog Painting By Friedrich
Inspired by:
Wanderer above the Sea of Fog
Painting by Caspar David Friedrich
(Viewing painting will help make sense of poem)
There is no view of which to speak
Do I concede to this defeat
The crushing fact closes my throat
I must reimagine, keep my morale afloat
Did I come here for the aspect
Or just seeking greater introspect
Whilst I toiled, I shed inner turmoil
It did not travel with me, so cannot spoil
This moment, at the top
My personal zenith, this is not
There is the World still there for me
Though the vastness of this foggy sea
Teases with details hardly there
I inhale, breathe in the air
Through the clouds
As fog enshrouds
I do not despair
Just stand and stare
At nothingness it seems
Yet I see untold slowly emerging dreams
Into who I am
The uncharted man
