Underdog
Saturday mornings extra early I would rise,
Watch as my hero would sail through the skies.
Eating my corn puffs, with you I’d cheer,
“There’s no need to fear, Underdog is here. “
With Simon Bar Sinister up to his tricks,
Dog of the hour who didn’t chase sticks.
You had me hypnotized with your wonder,
Speed of lightning roar of thunder.
Shoeshine boy so kind and meek,
Waiting for sweet Polly Purebreds shriek.
The boy Jack Unger your true blue friend,
I never wanted Saturday mornings to end.
Not plane nor bird nor even frog,
Just little old me Underdog.
My one true hero, I loved at the time,
I wonder, was it you who taught me to rhyme?
