The Rose

In crimson its beauty would show A symbol of love, pure and true With thorns it would swarm Love's not always warm But worth every prick that we go through

Thank you for your lovely comments my loyal, sincere and wondrful friend, all I can say is i am so sorry for my silence, i have no excuses and nor do I want to make any, my apology is heartfelt. Love is give and to take, we all make mistakes but true love forgives. Few words, but significant meaning in this Limerick Lasaad. i will be answering your other poems later today. Blessings my friend, Jennifer.

My now deceased father-in-law used to say there are thorns in the roses but aren't those roses sweet. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page with congrats. Sara K

"Love's not always warm But worth every prick that we go through" This is indeed a blunt espousal of truth. Love is sweet, but bitter too. However without love, life will be so sour.... ! There is beauty even when we get pricked occasionally by thorns. This I love more as an aphorism than as a limerick. This goes into my FAVE

Nice to see a beautiful short poem. Roses are thorny, but they are pretty.

A sacrifice for love, being pricked by a thorn. I doubt any loved one would refuse roses. A very lovely poem. Thanks to the author.
