The Miracle of Spring
To rise upon the breaking of the dawn
And watch as darkness turns into the light
Where silence lingers like a haunting song
Until the geese upon the lake take flight
To see the sun rise up behind the hill
And melt the heart of Winter with a glance
And hear the shrill trill of a whippoorwill
Perched there with bursting buds upon a branch
To stand upon the beating breast of earth
Now softened by the warm sweet breath of Spring
Where sprigs of green begin the show of birth
The miracle of Spring and all it brings
And like the earth I stand upon...I rise
My youth restored again when Spring arrives
