Sea Glass

Years ago, we walked the beach. Our footprints, were left in the sand. The salt water, licked our bare feet. A shiny piece stood out from the sand, our first glimpse of real sea glass. It was shimmering in our hands, a real gem from the sea to us.

This is lovely, Paula! Glass that has been in the sea for a long time becomes part and parcel of that environment. I've collected glass like that and patiently turned it into jewellery. ~ Best regards // paul

I love the sense of childhood (?) treasure in your poem. Faved. It reminds me a little of this poem and it's treasure 'Overheard on a salt marsh' by Harold Monro - worth looking up. J :)

This is a gorgeous poem dear Paula- I’ve been longing to be by the sea and reading this makes me want to be there even more! ‘ The salt water licked our bare feet’ love how you’ve poetically described that. I’ve never seen sea grass - but what a treasure to find! Loved this. Thank you for sharing. Hugs to you x

Great imagery in this poem. There should be a lesson for us, not to leave glass in the sand. Accidents happen too often.

Thanks for reading/writing. Glad you enjoyed my Fun "Sea Glass" write. I was told sea glass are pieces of real glass. The sharp edges are smoothed from being tumbled around by the water. They come from bottles or dishes from a shipwreck. The small pieces come on the beach. I have only seen this on one beach. Have a fun summer day.............
