North Star
Lonely in the hush of evening
I search the night sky for your bright smile;
such a vivid beam of light shines down at me.
You, my true north, a star beyond compare --
undeniably radiant, grants me direction, comfort.
Your smile is encased in a luminous halo.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star!
Your earthly life was cut short, yet you return
to illuminate my long, sad hours of darkness.
Daylight tries to steal you from my memory,
but in my heart, steadfast you remain
as I count the hours till evening again.
