I Couldn't Talk About It, So I Wrote A Poem
Overindulgence, it’s just the way it is in this society.
Overindulgence in sex, food, alcohol, drugs, spending,
spending beyond the means and getting in debted for
self-indulgence in vanity, materialism and social media.
I am laying these issues out there, not as criticisms
for there are two sides of a coin or two sides of each
issue; however, open discussions of these matters
are nil or a no no because of our society’s division.
Sex is good and it is even considered one of the
best exercises, but there are precautions to take to
avoid pregnancy. Yet, abortion is the choice of many.
Abortion, the right of a woman that became political.
Yes, terminating a pregnancy because of health, rape,
incest, forced into sex, like in abusive relationship or
being drugged; but not because of having a good time
with casual sex .. come on .. pregnancy is preventable.
We need food to survive, grow and be in good health.
Overindulgence in food results in obesity and multiple
health problems and it is sad to see some people over
eating and passing this unhealthy trait to their children.
Alcohol and drugs are social issues, affecting all walks
of life, young and old mentally, physically, emotionally.
Overindulgence in alcohol or drugs result in suicides,
accidents, imprisonments, violence, gun violence, death.
Spending beyond the means from self-indulgence
of being vain with botox, boob or booty jobs, tummy
tuck and so on and getting top quality equipment,
like phone to show off or post in social media ….
Self-indulgence in materialism, buying topnotch
vehicles, designer clothing, accessories, jewelries or
getting better stuff than what the Jones have or getting
or looking like the ones they see in social media.
Self-indulgence in social media resulting in wanting
to be like this or like that or like him or her resulting
in depression and anxiety or worst of all resulting in
losing everything from getting hooked with fraudsters.
It is so sad that most lonely people and seniors are
targeted by these impostors or syndicates recruiting
these impostors and become willing participants in
enabling and getting these fraudsters rich .. awful!
Honestly, my heart breaks for most people blame
the inflation for overspending or other people for
overindulgence in alcohol or drugs, not themselves.
Making excuses is easy, taking accountability is moot.
Should I just sing .. it’s just “The Way It Is” .. or
oh, baby, baby, it’s a “Wild World” ….
