A Spooky Tale
A Spooky Tale
Shadows slid silent across the cold stone floor,
As pallid wraiths formed in the fast fading breeze.
And came to rest by the broken kitchen door
As a new moon rose unseen above the trees.
Where no human walked that way any more
Grey ghosts returned on this night of dark unease
In that deserted place where the dead convened,
Spoke together before daylight intervened.
An Ottava Rima written in the original 11 syllable line form.
