A Dozen Roses

So beautiful When first they bloomed Their fragrant breath Dispelling gloom A dozen roses Drinking natures wine From a crystal vase Dewy lips Of velvet red Pursed with every word He said Their sultry whispers Flowing through my mind Intoxicating me Each petal pulsing With regret Trying hard to help me To forget His lies His infidelity As they try to hide the thorns below But all in vain As once again I watch those petal wilt And die As tears fall on another empty dawn Author: Elaine Cecelia George, of Canada Written: May,19,2014

first, thanks for what you said about me and Mr. Frost. I loved that because he is a magnificent poet. Now for your poem: wow, now that I have seen it, this is such a great way to describe the sadness that cannot be disguised by a rose bouquet. There is such symbolism in roses. I love using them in poetry. I gave my mom deep red ones this year . A much different symbolism than in this poem!

Yes! I agree, roses are a wonderful symbolism that allows one to express many different emotions. Thank you for your comments, Andrea. Much appreciated. Lainie.
