A Dozen Roses
So beautiful
When first they bloomed
Their fragrant breath
Dispelling gloom
A dozen roses
Drinking natures wine
From a crystal vase
Dewy lips
Of velvet red
Pursed with every word
He said
Their sultry whispers
Flowing through my mind
Intoxicating me
Each petal pulsing
With regret
Trying hard to help me
To forget
His lies
His infidelity
As they try to hide
the thorns below
But all in vain
As once again
I watch those petal wilt
And die
As tears fall on
another empty dawn
