Secrets

We all have secrets
We all have lies

Some of us the creepiest
Some of them ties,

That bind us together
That make us who we are

They stay forever
They never go far.

They stay in the subconscious
In the back of the mind

They sometimes make us nauseous
They even make us blind,

But some of us have a hard shell
Underneath is a soft core

No matter how we've been through hell
We still won't settle the score.

Even though we've been misjudged
Up, up we go

Even though our names have been smudged
We still roll with the flow,

I cannot begin to say how lucky I feel
To carry no evil inside

I hold my own wheel
I am my own guide.

Cinderella

Have courage and be kind
Her mother's wishes still fresh in her mind
For she had not a single bone of hate
Leading her courage and kindness to seal her fate

The days turned to months and those to years
For only time could calm her falling tears
Then her father passed leaving her his name
Never realizing his latest wife would bring so much shame.

It was seen so clearly how she was jealous
Along with her two daughters, still Cinderella was zealous
Even when she was ordered to laundry and dishes
And cleaning the pond while feeding the fishes.

Still she always smiled with light in her eyes
For so long she was wrongfully mistreated though one surprise
Her dress torn and ripped to shreds
That is when Cinderella put down her head.

And as her sweet heart ached
She heard a voice that beautifully sang
"A dream is a wish your heart makes"
And that is when the magic became real, make no mistakes.

A pumpkin turned to a carriage
Her simple appearance would unknowingly find a perfect marriage
Placing her as queen, in which she deserved to be
Sometimes magic can exist; just wish and look and you will see.

What It's Like

When I laugh, I cry,
Always holding the pain inside
I'm like a screaming child.

My tears are wet, but they always dry,
Always finding some place to hide
I'm a number that can't be dialed.

My wings are broken, but I want to fly,
Instead, I'm paying for my next ride
Somehow, always feeling exiled.

I want to live, and I want to die,
It's like no one is on my side
I'm waiting to be reconciled.

Trying to breathe, but only a sigh,
I may have failed, but at least I tried
Faking it and forcing it, I smiled.

The question is always why,
Whenever answering, I've only lied
The truth only reviled.

I slowly turn toward the sky,
It all so open and wide
Begging for a reply, instead my words only filed.

In This Garden

This place is full of wonder, full of great sites
A walk in the blissful rays of colored lights
Take me by the hand and pleasure my sensory
Tickle my nose with the smell of your fragrancy
Your tranquility calms me to a state of awe
I could look at you for days and not find any flaw
Even though mistakes can be made
The site of you makes those mistakes fade

Have you ever wondered how your soul can wander?
Bump into each other from far beyond yonder?
Did you ever see the beauty in me?
Even at my worst could you really see?
A shadow of truth, which dwells within these walls
A Utopian garden of truth, which an empty voice calls
Delving in the interior I can only be amazed
By all of the pretty things about you; my feelings are raised

Mesmerized by your being; intellectual with insight
I know that together we will only burn bright
The empty yard is now filled with dreams
Covering the persistence of my piercing screams
A hollow body has been filled
A terrible angst has been killed
And my imagination has now been thrilled
So all we can do from here is build

Still yet, I wonder as I gaze into your radiant eyes
The twists and turns are for frequent surprise
As I get to know you further for who you are
You have given me reason to believe we are up to par
Driven in ways to get the chance to make you mine
I could not give you up, for which you are particularly devine
Within my limits, for I have chose
I confess that I want you, the alluring rose

In this garden which you appease
All of our sorrows will begin to seize
Love is a feeling, it can feel like rain
The drops can be refreshing, or bring lots of pain
I know with you we can be as one
Take a walk in this garden where we won't have to run
I will always remain with you, from dusk until dawn
Just imagine someone there for you, someone who will never be gone.

A World of My Own

Could it be?
Can it be so?
A place for me?
Does anyone know?
Where can I see?
Which way do I go?

I could land upside down
After falling through a rabbit's hole
Zero smiles turn to frowns
Everyone in their own control
Odd makes the most wonderful sounds
Causing greater difference to be their goal.

Are there things of all shapes and sizes?
Like people, animals, food that makes you taller?
Talking flowers and caterpillars in disguises?
Mushrooms, bread, cookies that make you smaller?
Mad hatters with foolish surprises?
Angry queens who never falter?

I would explore for all days to come
I'd make friends near and far
Weird songs with unusual hum
Day is night and the sun shines as one big star
Always happy, never glum
All surroundings quaintly bizarre.

Only You

I will be there for you any time you need
I cannot say whether you'll do the same
Whenever your heart may bleed
I'll be whispering your alluring name
Even if you refuse to accede
I will be there for you with no shame

I will take your hands when you appear lost
With no promises you will hold onto mine
No matter how it will completely exhaust
Our souls together, which they align
Never leaving, no matter the cost
For our existence as one is simply benign.

I will grasp your frame when you begin to cry
Despite your petulance, my lips will smile
They will kiss your face until those tears dry
I will run that extra mile
No matter how resistant you are or how you defy
Being near you makes all sorrow worth while

And no matter what people say
I adore you
And love you in every possible way
With my heart of gold I will erase the blue
I will turn your storm into a snug and sunny day
Although construe, all of my words are endlessly true.

Ten Little Golden Girls

Ten little golden girls swung from a vine
One branch broke, and then there were nine.

Nine little golden girls went to skate
One fell through a crack, and then there were eight.

Eight little golden girls dined on some chevon
One's dish was raw, and then there were seven.

Seven little golden girls stacked some old bricks
One was hit in the head, and then there were six.

Six little golden girls decided to take a drive
One struck a tree, and then there were five.

Five little golden girls went out to shore
One took a nosedive, and then there were four.

Four little golden girls went out for tea
One was poisoned, and then there were three.

Three little golden girls sailed in a canoe
Then came an abrupt wind; one could not swim, and then there were two.

Two little golden girls went out shopping for some fun
The little girl got stuck in a store, and then there was one.

One little golden girl stumbled upon a gun
She fortuitously pulled the trigger, and then there were none.

Downs and Ups

There are times when waking up is hard
Easier when you are near yet difficult if far
That's when I stay down like a fallen card
As though I am as stuck as a star.

Do you watch the moon while I see it shine?
Are there lights or is it darker
I have chills running through my spine
And you're straightening it with a thick marker.

Strange as can be that falling asleep is worst
Always staying awake until I see the sun has risen
My sleep patterns are reversed
My soul is in prison

Even when I try nothing seems to work
All I ever do is lay awake
While our memories lurk
In my dreams with multiple retakes.

Flowers bloom but always die
Beautiful until they fall to the ground
Their petals disintegrate as they lie
And they do it without making any sound

I just want to be loved for who I am
All of the negative simply makes me ill
Through every tear, I still swam
Because I still have plenty in life to fulfill.

When I Sleep

Of all things, it is happiness and fear
Both of these are strongly sincere
Either a laugh or cold tears shed
That's when the pain develops in my head.

I think of you and your handsome smell
Lucky for me, I remember it well
I grasp my pillow ever so tightly
And begin to fall asleep ever so slightly.

I begin to dream of your powerful touch
I can only hope you think of me a fraction as much
But then I wake and realize you were never real
And then I think, am I faking what I feel?

Are you turning into a figment of my imagination
With multiples or just a single collaboration
The memories, they are beginning to fade
Your entire self, so quickly decayed.

Those heart wrenching songs start to play in my mind
Always making me want to rewind
To where I laugh instead of weep
Where I dream of you in my sleep.

Understood Silence

When you try and speak there are things you cannot say
It is as if the strongest winds carry your words away

Yet still, your eyes captivate inside of mine
Even without words, I can read the unspoken sign

Your silent thoughts flow through my intellect inevitably
And your hushed phrases are still spoken quite eloquently

For days it seems, we've stood face to face
Breathing the same air, taking up the same space

But every time I reach out to touch that face, you try to disappear
Pulling back with every inch as you begin to hide in fear

These minutes have grown slower and at a drastic rate
It is starting to seem as if your mind is beginning to dissipate

It's harmless for you to converse with me, through grand and grave
Take those first steps and initiate with me, be brave

Just hold on to my hands and you will feel it, too
I will show you how to be colorful, instead of black and blue.
