Photographs

Photographs share his long and changing journey.
Youth one day moves to the bearded grey.
Smiles of playful days captured for an eternity in black and white.
He grows from fat to thin and back again, colors of his hair blond one year and silky brown the next.
A catalog of mystery, young carefree boy, sad solemn man.
Family members and good friends long gone remind him of his pain.
Photographs some scattered in tattered boxes or mounted high in chipped wooden and silver frames, disrespected.
Day grows old and shadows project the shape of his favorite gum tree.
He lies down to rest his aching bones the images reappear, the photographs, the memories, the journey, help him ease his restless sleep if only for today.

Strange Land

Open clouds black and grey circle this strange majestic sky.
Oak tree's whistle, birds flee.
A riverbank is broken rapids gushing loud and free.
Farmer rejoices.
Rain drops envelop this arid land.
Sheep hustle, rooster grows.
Droughts over, seven years forgotten.
Days repeat this welcome storm, heavens present for the harsher days gone by.
Sun rises.
Tree's settle, birds chant a thankful song.
Land awakens ready to grow his needed corn.
Farmer smiles, his dream lives on to see another day.

Handsome Beauty

Handsome beauty faded beneath the hot Australian sun.
Heart hardened it laugh's no more.
He reaches for that dam bottle once innocent.
Health rattles cough deepens sad habits fill his life.
Help over as no one dares to come.
Home burns with rancid stench, his will is lost.
Handsome beauty he tries everything to forget.
Harsh daylight strikes he stumbles the shower runs.
Heaving forward he falls and hits his pounding head.
Half hour past the fog begins to clear, no work today.
Hot endless days, a half smoked cigarette same bottle starts again.
Handsome beauty fades.

Tomorrow

A frightened life of endless indecision and sleepless nights! Day in and day out. Constantly seeking grey to shade the black and white, growing old as slowly as the moon. A smile moves over his bearded face, longing to stay... The sound of rushing shores creep up and startles his empty mind. Come Summer come Winter the seasons grow together marking the days that end the same. Brave world skips along his open life. Lonely love and empty dreams, be strong tomorrow soon will come...

Saved Love

It's easy to greet the new days dawn. We run towards the daylight for surprisingly it shows its name . Young daylight, old nights, shadows creep alight. Will tomorrow be as perfect as today. Wonder and hope. Lonely graves spends endless years green grass and hallowed weeds seek the warm embrace of sunshine, daylight be our friend. The shameful life of the love so bad, forbidden. The over spoken rituals "halo though be thy name" grave indiscretions take us to the place of shocking desperate hate. Awakening years forgive them. Grow the love that doesn't need a name grow and celebrate its words forgotten is the shame.

A V a L a N C H E

A strong and deep suspicion lies deep within my brain.

Vast images of cruelty it seems in some religions name.

A cry for peace and understanding goes unanswered time and time again.

Let people burn and die in shame.

A politician shouts loudly "Stop this madness" It seems his screams are all in vain.

No one can see the sense in all this reckless pain.

Caring people flock to heal the injured so infection has no gain.

Hold tight and be together they begs us nightly, again in peace these people shall not reign.

End this senseless torture "surely there is no reason for this" not in any religions name.

Joe's Milk Bar

Joe drops his purple dragster bang! So many scratches from mornings just the same.
Mrs Jones smiles expecting him.
"Milk please" he grinned from ear to ear.
His birthday you see and treats are given for one as young as Joe.
Years past and Mrs Jones has moved onto green pastures, Joe honors her in keeping it the same for young and giddy children.
Joe's Milk Bar if only in his name.
Past memories of kindness make Joe's day as he smiles at Maggie Jones a granddaughter, who's face wears the same name.
Joe ages and less children visit him they've all grown and moved away.
His birthday you see, he opens his favored treat, well earned for a man a sweet as he.

Growth

Growth, forever it keeps the past untold... Without much notice it strikes his untouched veins. The loss of unforgiving love reaches out like the sun burnt branches of the long abandon tree, reminding, ensure us that we cannot be the same. Growth eventually grabs his lost and empty sole, it gently shows him on his way, green pastures blue sky's and dancing songs embrace his dark forgotten heart. Growth an answer to his gut felt pain, it dulls the hidden secrets, it gives him peace again. Growth.
