The Rudiments of Wings

Time is exhausting… It lays in wait to provoke you pinches that part of you that hurts most, tears away at your ambition, laughs at your inability to stand up and fight futile battles that bury you. Try to escape, but like that little hamster on its wheel you will go nowhere. 2-20-22 This or That, Vol 10 Poetry Contest~N/A~ Sponsored by: Edward Ibeh The Rudiments of Wings

Hi Connie, this is a little different for you. The piece is filled with deep thoughts yet it is a wonderful write. The message is so true. This should do well in the contest, Connie. I always believe that the wings shall one day fly and the hamster shall leave the wheel. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs always ..... Mike. XX

Agree with what Andrea has opined ! This is a slice of real life with a touch of pain and irony and never fictional ! All the Best in the Contest dear friend !

Connie, yes, this must be why I found your poem here so special. Mine was fictional while yours was not!! (finally posted mine and you have seen it now) Oh wait, did you do one about yourself for Broken hearts? I can't recall if I saw that one then. I will go check.

I did one called Oh My Son Andrea. It was an older poem about when he ran off to live with his bio dad and now I don’t have him at all. 44 is way too young to die. Thanks xxoo

wow, like time flying away on the wing. I would never have thought to go there. Wait till you see mine. I took it so literally. I wish I could think in a more abstract way. it would help me so much with free verse. Anyway, love how you took this challenge.

A very thought-provoking write on time and how it erodes away at your ambitions and fortitude. I feel like this sometimes, a little existential angst creeps in and it's nice to see these thoughts put into your beautiful free verse poetry. Well done, my friend.

Our warm weather is definitely a boost for feeling optimistic. I really feel for the northern states right now in 1° weather. I have been out in really cold weather in Kansas,Colorado, Michigan, Maine, and New York and other cold states and I feel for everyone who has to deal with that kind of cold. I have a friend in Colorado that keeps me posted and it’s pretty darn cold right now. I hope spring arrives early for you. Thank you. Blessings xxoo

You explored this theme in eloquent vocabulary, Connie: tears away at your ambition---laughs at your inability to stand up and fight futile battles that bury you... You always shine in gift of words!
