UPSIDE DOWN WORLD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
in this strange world, where up is down
and down is up, and all is turned around,
we stumble, lost, through an endless maze
seeking answers, with an upside-down daze
Premium Member Flies can Walk Upside Down
Flies can walk upside down
I am watching one through my glass table
It is weird seeing his tiny feet
He walks with self-assurance
Step step step
No flying for this one
Dangling Upside Down
When you travel and you’re on a plane,
Attendants must always explain
What to do in a crash
But the words they rehash
Most on board think are spoken in vain.
Yet a Delta flight recently dipped
As it landed and suddenly flipped.
Every seat belt held tight
As each one on the flight
Dangled upside down, very off-script.
Flight crews got all the passengers out
With some injuries scattered about
But they all did survive,
In one piece and alive,
Though quite shaken up, there’s little doubt.
A payout from Delta proposed
Thirty-thousand for each one exposed
To this harrowing turn
(More than some people earn)
But not worth it, as many disclosed.
Premium Member Is the World Upside Down
Incredible but true,
Believe it or not,
But it happened.
Driving in a secondary road,
Feeling at peace with the world,
Admiring the tall bushes and trees,
I saw a woman thumbing a ride.
I stopped to my regret for
Three young hooded armed men
Surrounded my car
and robbed me of all I had,
Hired car and all.
I walked back to town
Thankfully I got a lift.
Got some cash from my hotel
And went to have lunch.
A beggar came in and asked for food.
I took pity and went to buy
Some food for him.
The owner sent packing for both of us from his diner.
Hungry we were, and hungry we remained.
I saw a small girl roaming the street.
I took her to the nearest station.
In came her mother accusing me
That I molested the girl.
I spent the night in a cell.
The next day, everything was cleared.
I had just come from abroad.
But now I ask:  what kind of world is this?
Three times I tried to do well.
Three times, I was wronged.
Can I be charitable again?
Alas, it is in my nature
To do always good.
Life Upside Down With You
If you ever feel giving up
Something at the end of sadness
Then, give me some time
I'll take the moment
I'll spend my life
Life upside down with you.
Premium Member UPSIDE DOWN
In a world that for many of us has turned upside down
may we continue to endeavor
to turn it right-side up again
and not allow it
to remain upside down forever…
Premium Member Upside-Down In Politics
Strange things happen in politics
We cannot trust the polls
Life has its own dirty tricks
We can play divers roles
This is not business as usual
Always fight to save one's soul.
Things are upended in politics
Ignore the belligerent critiques
Everything happens in a season
For an un-intelligible reason
Nobody can predict the results
Of an election filled with insults.
Politics in many countries are very dirty
We all can see why. Politics are slushy
Voters lie. They mislead the pollsters
Who behave like palm readers
Like inexperienced magicians
So they can foul the naïve audience.
Things are pell-mell in politics
Life has its own yucky tricks
Everything occurs for an obscure reason
Under the lights of an unusual horizon
No anchors can predict the results
Of an election filled with assaults.
Upside-Down
We do a monthly Zoom call,
A group of long-time friends,
And catch up on our lives before
The 80 minutes ends.
Since we are of a certain age,
Our tech skills lack finesse,
So sometimes we appear online
With varying success.
Today there was a brand-new snag
When, in somebody’s box,
Her image showed up upside-down,
A seeming paradox.
The issue never got resolved
For the entire Zoom.
It drove me nuts, but no one else
Was bothered, I presume.
Premium Member A Tale: The Upside-down Version
In the small crawl space
just past the two kitchen hangars
where one pole is north face
and in the deep south is the other's
that place be called Monkeyland,
where fishes hop o'er clouds,
and cats and dogs walk hand in hand,
doves dive not flocks but crowds,
the Crab Fest is a spectacle,
a wonder to behold,
show ends, then the incredible,
the taste test wins the gold,
you'll hear tales from a pair of keys (parakeets),
perched within an igloo,
you'll eat a knifeful of fresh peas
and a hole tomato
Thanks, Clueless One, for reading me,
but, clue you in ... let's see,
if I'm held upside right ... first time,
my tale be True in rhyme.
Upside Down Again
ferris wheel
inside of sky,
yet
upside down,
again said i
thus
pushing up
against the sun
sailing through
timeless clouds
taking me towards
the other side of
the world gone by
still laughing
through
the gentle wind
said i and
world is
upside down again
A Poem Back To Front
A poem back to front
It's never done
Because
Once you start
You never stop the fun
And stopping just to see
What you might do
You never know
What an author might tell you
So listen closely to
That which I say
Please think about the words
I speak each day
A poem back to front
Premium Member Turned Upside Down By a Group of Children:
Helpless! I stare up at human children.
Their discovery of me has begun.
I, slow- moving in undergrowth
before I know it, am flipped
upside down.
I move my legs, desperate, they grip air
while, amusement of children
ripples like a brook,
Look they chuckle. “ He’s stuck”
And they poke at me and form
a ring of eyes, above.
I am desperate for kindness now
I retract my neck and limbs
quiet as death until
bored the children
seeing no movement, right me
again, I stumble on,
until a foot with toes poised to flip
is stopped by words
I prayed for
defensive, kind
“Let the poor thing go.”
I hide in the cool leaves before my last
desperate lurch, pond water surges
over me, I swim, my legs paddle.
The water lilies are beautiful
Turn It Upside Down
TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN
?
Turn it upside down,
Let it make meaning:
Death is Ocean that can drown
and animate how you're feeling.
Turn it upside down.
The relic of them that mourn
wails in the wake of forlorn sound.
Death takes all and spares none.
Turn it upside down.
The reflection of our lost friends
is our image when our time is now.
Our unending story starts but ends.
Turn it upside down.
They spite and compare you
with your age mates out of town,
but their graves are inscribed "Adieu".
Turn it upside down.
Amassing wealth is baseless.
Life is birthed but death will dawn,
it is the last grief nonetheless.
Turn it upside down
Your homies are gone & down.
The reflection stares from their graves,
and the loner mourns his favs.
Turn it upside down.
Two worlds but same fate they plough:
The beholder is gone in brokenness
as well as the illusive friends.
Turn it upside down,
whether you smile or frown,
death and separation are either way;
So live your best life each day!
A World Turned Upside Down
Let’s just imagine that the world witnesses a drastic change,
Dogs are walking humans, and trees are locked in a cage!
Cats suddenly start flying in the air!
And birds start politics, everywhere!
 The sky is no longer blue, now it is green,
Buildings can now talk, though they are very mean!
Zebras can no longer live in the wild, they are gentlemen,
Who can’t have tea or coffee, but can consume office files!
Oranges are fighting for ‘orange rights’,
But as the birds are politicians, they don’t even care to fight!
The birds suck at everything, so the trees escape!
And now the lawn mowers are being killed, because the trees have family who are grass blades!
The trees are the government and they can control everything now,
And the birds are being killed by purple and orange cows!
But this is not going to really happen right? But then came a voice from my plants saying- “It can! So Hold On TIGHT!”
To be honest, I wasn’t very surprised!
