Snow Baby
A snowflake fell
A momma wails
In birthing pains
Number eleven son
Cried today he's eighty four
He loved his own five sons
Two are buried
Howard rests

Jingle bells, Ashley smells
Shirley laid an egg
The truck had a flat
And the deer got away

Deers be aware, Caleb has a sharp eye
Packing a hot loaded rifle yeah!

It seems there’s a certain melodious beat
discovered reusing these metrical feet.
You can’t help but tap it
first slow, and then rapid:
an odd syncopation that brings ears a treat.

In many and many ages hence
Standing on a hill that makes no sense
Archaeologist dig way down
Found way beneath a Royal Crown
Bad odor becoming intense

(This for Limerick Game or whatever passed from C.E.McMillen. I pass the Limerick torch to

Soup of Doris
A quiet almost abrupt person
Believes in heaven and eternity
Culverhouse, cuddly cheer giver
Dang dandy Doris
Enjoys food rich and sweet
Funny in a dry sort of way
Girl in my mind freckles and bangs
Handy and loves to learn

Concealer
by Doris Culverhouse

Concealer covers
Restless nights, wrinkles and age
Spackle for the face
My bag of tricks will contain
Light and dark sticks for all flaws

Keep those telling flaws
closely covered never let
others see the real
superficial me later
Imperfections are pure...

My View of Me
Doris
Sensitive, caring, bigger than life, artistic
Sister of Tommy Lee Jr and Phyllis Gail.
Lover of family, peace and acceptance.
Who feels happiest when I owe no one, am able to give and please God.
Who fears loss of independence, loss of family and venomous snakes.
Would like to see Canada, Mexico, and The Red Wood Forrest.
Resident of sulltry Georgia, USA

sat a toad by a pond
pondering
of some words
words of wonder
wondering
then he croaked them
gave his voice
voicing
and looking up
saw an audience
rejoicing

and the animals
with a clap
clapping
some moved to tears
tearing
this toad
with his standing ovation
thought he’d better
write down
his creation

April my arch nemesis In fact, I get quite ill I sneeze, my eyes turn red Three times a day take pills Don't get me wrong, my friend Spring green trees are a thrill I do love those flowers dear For they are the real deal
I got the idea from Doris Culverhouse(our daughter) from the email she sent me with her parody to Ralph Waldo Emerson's poem April....

Written by Doris Culverhouse

Nature's view changes
Familiarity seen
Birds and deer tasting
All of my precious flowers
Attacked like the evil one

Dad's barn and garden
Wayne's great carved flower beds
The tractor and shed
Always steady, strong present
Workers, lovers of the land

Dedicated to my Dad and Hubby!!...

This Golden Prize
(For Doris Culverhouse)

a-hunting a man was gone
in the thick of a forest sweet
away trumped he like a horn
& a deer chased till the night;

up & down till near a rock
o, the weapons fell from his hands
while asleep upon the rock
what a golden snort of the nose;

then the queen of the forest came
what a bridal match she brought
o, the dream of raw blood to tame
& what a prize she’ld win at last!...

Kitty Chiropractor
It is mighty bizarre hanging here like this
Mom says I have to take it, so the doctor say
Next time I see his hairy face I'll give 'im a hiss
It's no fun just hanging in the closet today
My back IS a whole heap better, yes way!

Net tightens around the school
Deliverance, grace

May your hook always be cast
Where you least expect fish caught

Synergism, save
These lost fish, grateful intent
Catch and release, Life

Responsible now
Freedom, new life in warm water
Breach, spout words, joy, sing

School of life, protective school
Numbers rise with the right bait

Cats on roof in snow
Sentinels watching looking
Without open eyes

The jet flies the governor's
Course set to adultery

Cat slips on frozen
Snow, claws grip the edge, below
A fire awaits..... fate

Death takes the pilot,
In midair the govenor
Yearns...jet burst apart

Cat's grip is weak claws strip falls
Clings to governor's carcass

Taxpayers buy a
New plane, and exwife's dreams flow...
And flames still scorch!
