We are gifted life
for later to be taken
so why emotion
that used to manipulate,
strength built on the fear of it.

Achilles Tendon
Sometimes I dream about
that I could throw myself away
to a warm island with birds
and use my heel for this project
on my heel
you can find
the most powerful string
on my body...

I strolled my garden on a day so fair,
and lo, a sad spider was sitting there.
I found that I could commiserate
with the little guy whose legs were eight.
Imagine, my friend, how it feels
to have so many Achilles heels....

Achilles Heel
To lament the lion hearted
to cowering in trembled skin
befits the bottom dwelling things
the silt under wool of society's rug
While bravery is steel in stance
and oils the jaws of recovery
the bite of poison from burnt mouths
will hit the heel every time....

My Achilles
PHFFFT! *

The sound of peace
A sweet release
To La La lands
Where soothing hands
Calm the weary
Boost the dreary
Drown my sorrow
Until tomorrow
When once again
I'll wake and then

PHFFFT!

*This represents the sound of a beer bottle being opened...

Achilles
I am not achilles
I am not at my ease
so mercy baby please
for I am not achilles

up I see the skies
down I see the ground
I am stuck in between
kind of could have been

I am not made for wars
my blood follows no stream
in misery I swim
seems my story has no theme...

Run as fast as you possibly can, my darling. Because the hounds are hot on your track. Snapping and growling may be heard. Take both hands and grasp your Achilles. Anubis was on duty of storing the vital items.

Lady Eleanor
She masquerades by candle light
hope unparaded
triumphs
Lady Eleanor will you dream tonight
waiting for the stone gargoyles
by the wayside
by someones achilles heel
you are the slayer
akin to something sinister
you walk to the tower
where you can see enlarge
your designs
by the misty morning

You Are
YOU ARE the epitome of intrigue. An addiction for my needs. A puzzle of perplexing shades. Unique enticingly brief. I love you. Hate that you frustrate me. Find my Achilles. Both my nemesis my disease. Still… you ease the fatigue of mortality © Kim van Breda—28 June 2015

They Had Statues of You In Greece and Rome
Adonis in obsidian
Midnight Heracles
My Orpheus, though out of key,
You sing the dark right out of me
Achilles himself had a weakness;
Yours is within your chest:
The golden heart that’s beating
Within an ebony breast
Olympians play chess with their mortals
Hades takes the rest
Still, Iron Apollo,
You rise and set in the West....

Politics Part 2
Corporate wealth sought
by Labour czar conquistadors
scourge wealth
the have-nots will prevail
30,000 measly votes for a standing Labour MP

the enthusiasm for them is underwhelming
without PR we are shorn of democracy
sleepwalked into a Labour majority
Apathy is their achilles heel
belief flounders
when Reform were second
in 100 seats

The Race I Failed To Run
In endless steps, I chased the line,
This path I tread, my halt in time.
Each stride I take, a half to go,
A journey bound by fractions solved.

Infinity in finite bounds,
Where motion stalls and thought grew large.
Achilles sprints, the tortoise leads,
My race defined by endless time.

Forever near, forever far,
Where reason left me, here I fall....

The Great Achilles
Mighty and strong was he,
Better then the most of thee.
Killer of many a man,
Alas to soon his life turned to sand.
Many morn and weep it is clear to see,
For they know no better warrior will come after thee.
There he lies,
and until the end of time,
He will always lie.
The Great Achilles was the best of the best,
For now he lays completely at rest....

My Day
Nature looks weary abut the boom gate
Like a faithful prostitute dun for her pay
With hand on cheek, the other wave way

By ageless sky con beloving gaze
And Sam to Delilah, a giant betrayed
In boneless bliss, made Achilles to heel

What fate the peep to me had brought?
When time..., yet permits me to decide
To crisscross between heaven and earth.

M and M Power
M and M's candy, my Achilles heel
By far the best treat in the land
The way they taste, so addicting
And look, they don't melt in my hand!

They aren't in my hand long enough
My pie hole keeps sucking them in!
It can bring a tear to my eye
Thinking about no M and M's

In conclusion, I'll terminate
The accolades that I shower
By raising one, up to the sky
Here's to that M and M power!...

A Blueberry Muffin
Do you have an Achilles heel?
Mine is a blueberry muffin.
Always makes my taste buds squeal,
When it comes fresh from the oven.

Served up warm with a cup of tea,
A reason to get out of bed.
No coffee or eggs, not for me,
Now ready for the day ahead.

Often I cheat, have one more please,
And feel I’m as big as a whale.
My sweet tooth once more to appease,
‘Till I get on the bathroom scale!...

The Song of Achilles

The sun sets along with my heart,
On that fiery horizon of earth,
Bright like the fire in my hearth.
The fire led to the imminent birth

Of my rage that burned along
With your corpse, with prolonged
Desire to rip out his heart, The one
Who maimed you unrecognisable.

And if I die to avenge
My cherished downfall, Let
My ashes be mixed with his
And buried below a tomb of black.

Samson
I heard poor old Samson
Singing songs for Delilah
One fruitful afternoon
In a room after gala

Her charming beauty
Made him loudly squeal
Telling secrets so loudly
Like his "Achilles heel"

Poor old Samson
He was played like a stone
Like an old flute, he spoke
His whole silence was broke

For his body was mighty
For he's blessed by the almighty
But his spirit was weak
And he's played like a freak...
