Mankind in all his stupidity and greed is slowly destroying our beautiful earth, the warnings are there but he chooses to ignore them. Quote by poet. I sat down under the cool shade of some weeping willow trees, a babbling brook flowed nearby and was so soothing to hear. I felt totally relaxed then I fell asleep and started to dream.  So, I asked the trees a question why is it that you all weep? one said" We weep because of the way man treats mother earth,  he cuts down her forests because of greed causing climate change, he dumps rubbish in her great oceans and is killing all her wildlife, and causes great conflicts because others don't share his views. So, you see my friend we don't have much to be happy about". A plane flying overhead finally woke me up from my deep sleep. It troubled me what I'd dreamt and as I walked away, I wept with them.

Thank you very much Deb, it would make anyone weep to see how mankind treats the earth. I say mankind because women wouldn't treat mother earth like they do. Enjoy your weekend. Tom

Man's callous treatment of the earth is felt by every living organism. Pollution causes the water, air and the surroundings toxic. You have dealt with a very crucial issue. However deep our grief is, there is sadly no notable change. Congratulations on your first place win.

Thank you very much Jerry, everyone talks about doing something but that's all that they do, talk. We've all seen the devastating fires and floods around the world. I pity those coming after us. Tom

Tom, I'm making this a favorite. It's a wonderful story of someone who is aware. I also liked how you were awakened by a piece of technology...that was an appropriate object to startle you and fits the theme you have here. I noticed the mega yachts and private jets increasing in size and number every year. Very strange how many of the wealthiest don't get it, and even they have a lot to lose. The world is not just for us...there are a lot of different creatures here we're not considering.

Thank you very much Duke, mankind is doing a great job of destroying mother earth, greed driving it, I often wonder what sort of world we're leaving for those coming after us. Thanks too for faving it. Tom

Dear Tom, what a moving and powerful poem this is so well written and delivered! I love the quote too. And it always makes my heart weep seeing trees bein removed without any concern or thought for consequences and how it could impact the Mother Earth! Youv written a very soulfully moving take and i love also “ he dumps rubbish in her great oceans and is killing all her wildlife” as an islander it is something that really bothers me especially when swimming etc and when seeing corals grieving. Pleasure reading your poem today! Congratulations on your win too. Sending you light always

Thank you very much IE, it's shocking the way mankind treats our beautiful earth, I know some beaches around the UK have been declared unsafe, many rivers too are polluted with industrial waste. You live in a beautiful part of the world, Ive been to Mauritius some years ago and swam out to see the coral, it was amazing. The highlight was going out in a speedboat and when I got in the water and looked under about nine dolphins swam under me, I've never forgotten that image. Tom

We're all weeping with them (well, except for the greedy exploiters). Soon, God's kingdom will initiate the healing of planet earth and gradually undo all the damage. Something to look forward to

It's all the truth, Tom. Mankind has had little regard for the well-being of Earth, doing whatever it takes to fulfill.... not always their need but their greed. It gives cause to weep.

Thank you very much Lin, man is one dirty creature for sure. I read they bulldozed parts of the Amazon to build a new road for a new conference centre to hold a conference about climate change you couldn't make it up. Tom
