Who Am I

I am not meant to be a speaker of truth I am not meant to be the bearer of knowledge in my words you will find no wisdom of the ages nor the conscience of my generation I cannot offer you transcendental enlightenment the afterlife yet alludes me Nirvana, Valhalla, Heaven mere abstraction while I walk this earth my insights but meaningless sardonic rambling no epiphanies no sage advice only a searching wanderer destined to quest for that elusive word which someday may illuminate this aphotic life and bring peace to my weary soul 01/16/2018

- Most people who have lived for a while here on earth have knowledge ... good or bad - ... and it is wisest to relate to the truth - A lie is difficult to bear ... and difficult to repeat - A great poem, James :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Is it Donald Trump? Sorry. I just had to do that, my friend!!! (it's a very lovely poem despite my bad joke)

Hhaaa HHhaaaaaa Ha, I like that. I guess with the title it could be considered a riddle. You're looking at it from a different perspective, sideways, perhaps? I never really thought of it that way, but I see your point. After rereading it several times from your point of view, Donald Trump might be a good answer; although, it depresses me to think I have so much in common with him (except the money), lol.

It's go to be a fellow traveler, James. I do believe in heaven. I don't know how I would continue on with this life without that sweet hope. I like the sincerity of your write. Happy traveling.

Hi Eileen, what I would give to be so sure of anything. Perhaps we will meet along the road somewhere.

Meh, I often trod off in not what they're looking for and sometimes place, ya never know ;) I suppose I like this piece so much because it's probably in the neighbourhood that I may have ventured for that contest.

A nice display of a thinking mind ... Spontaneously flashes the revolutionary line of René Descartes, Cogito ergo sum, I think, therefore I am ... really enjoyed the poem ...

WE are all speakers of truth James, and maybe you think you cannot offer such things, but I am sure you can.. Do you really think all you offer is sardonic rambling?

I'm not sure of what others may get from reading what I write Silent One. I'm afraid that my reason for writing is selfish. Mostly for the pleasure and the emotional release it gives me. Whether the poems are fictitious or taken from my life they are my way of releasing the hidden side of me. If someone finds worth in the words I write I am honored.
