Water Skiing, Tribute To Maggie

~Water Skiing,Tribute to Maggie~ Ah, indeed a summer teenage delight! My Cousin Maggie assured me, would make a water skier of me. Ah, my young heart lost all frightening premontions and took a soaring flight. I sat on the pier, she threw me the dauntful handle and rope. Fear seized me, realizing the moment to ski was indeed, here! Her husband, Jim, was captain of the speed boat and cheered! It was time for me to move my trembling, young rear! I stood up and was on my way, Woo-hoo and hip-hip-hooray! At last, I was like everyone else. Ecstatic with the water and the speedboat as it propelled! Alas, glory and triumph divine, were not to be mine. For I fell forward on my face! And with silly pride, still held onto the rope. Dragged through Lake Como, Me ~"Dope on a Rope!" My Cousin Maggie, yelling loudly: "Let Go! Let Go!" I must have been in stupefaction! Like a languid teenage halibut, I let go of that rope. But nonetheless, bobbing up and down in great, jubilant summer most memorable, satisfaction! August 26, 2019 1:30pm PST

You wouldn't haven fallen if you hadn't been brave enough to first stand. I absolutely love this but gotta ask: did u try again? I always wanted to ski but that and other things that one has to learn while being watched fear-seize me. I did once tentatively begin a tour group ride thru mountains in Tahoe on an ATV and after conquering a steep muddy creek bank, I knew the greatest high. Good for you and the yippee feeling your write gave me. Wanna go bungee jump? Me neither. CayCay

No! Once a halibut, always a halibut. There will be a sequel to this one on snow skiiing with Jim and Maggie. A riot! BTW. I live near Tahoe, my daughter, Maria was married on its shores, 2 months after 9/11. No bungee or jumping out of planes. Thank you. I did learn the art of Car Rallies from them and wom a trophy. wow, this did not happen recently , did it? Hard to imagine even myself getting up on skis after all my years. I tried it when we had a boat and because it always took me so many tries to get up, I quit liking it Also, I do not like falling with skis on my feet. I preferred just sitting in the front of the boat jumping over waves. Your poem uses some really cute phrases, Panagiota. I think it's very well written

Oh, no way was this recent. Line one indicates I was a teenager. Now? Not a chance.. That was a one time hit..meaning my faceHitting the water. Still? Did it. quite an accomplishment. The Sequel .Jim and Maggie take me to a winter skiing lesson. LOL . Even sillier. Thanks, Andrea,

I see in this poem a memory of an experience that was thrilling and part of life and learning-- such you wonderfully told and shared about doing with family love and water skiing the first time. I've never learned to water ski myself. Truly enjoyed this wonderful tale of your first time. An inspiring piece recording a great memory! Bravo my friend! A fav..

Robert! Thank you. It was a hilarious event. I am such a dud. But Jim and Maggie were excellent skiers par excellance. Me? The flounder of the family...just trying to learn. It was my first and last time. Thank you, Dear Robert! Panagiotta

Hello Panagiota … certainly enjoyed this yarn of yours Panagiota. I shouldn't admit to this but, watching someone learning to water ski can be quite humorous - thank you Panagiota - Lindsay

Linday, thank you for being the first responder! A trophy for you. Yes, you should admit to it being funny. It is! This is not a sacred event. People do look silly trying to do this. I looked ridiculous. I wasn't kidding about being dragged thru the water.fun and silly. And thank you more. Panagiota
