I listen and see, but mind is asleep
This Easter galore, can be such a bore!
Same story, same tune, we’re all fed by spoon
Now swallow it down: the thorns, blood and crown
As yet it’s unheard, the voice of the Word!
The music is loud; eggs, bunnies, a crowd
New clothes and a song; does something feel wrong?
The cross and the grave: He’s risen to save!
It’s more than you see; spilt blood on a tree
It’s more than His death; that last jagged breath
It’s more than a tomb, and mourning and gloom
It’s claiming His name; not being the same
The meaning, you’ll see, is clear as can be
It’s new life in Him! So when hope grows dim
When death takes a friend and pain has no end
When night comes with fears, day follows with tears
Let this truth shine bright! He lives; He’s the light!
He conquered, and you...are conqueror too!
This Easter I say: “This Christ is the Way!
Through Him we can live! Like Him, let us give!”
