The Druid 2
Sam woke up all excited, his first circle would take place tonight,
He saw Crimson Fire sat deep into mediation, still as a rock
and noticed the white robes, belts and staffs laid out ready.
He knew from their talks that he needed to do a purifying ritual
he would need to grind up the right herbs gathered at full moon
Hinds tongue and rabbits foot,
eye of newt and badgers foot,
calf's snout and a man's bile,
eye of star and beggars rile,
mix them up with fairy smoke
and with fairie's finger a poke
pour it into the bucket of water
put over fire as taught by healer
stir it twice then hubbles, bubbles
so many strife's, toils and troubles.
set aside and leave it to cool while you take a dip in the pool,
rub all over with Bloodwort until foam and bubbles appear.
A long swim around the pool, then a rinse under the waterfall
take the bucket, rub the purifying mixture over head and body.
Once done he joined Crimson Fire in a drink of Enchanters plant
ready they dressed in their robes and belts and took up their staffs .
They set off for the sacred grove where they would hold the circle
under the ancient oak they set the Abalone bowl filled with cleansing
herbs of sages, cedars and sweetgrass, then together they chanted
Earth Mother!
We praise Thee:
that seed springeth,
that flower openeth,
that grass waveth.
We praise Thee:
for winds that whisper
through the shining birch,
through the lively pine,
through the mighty oak. We praise Thee,
for all things, O Earth Mother,
Who givest Life!
As evening drew in many more druids joined and solemnly chanted
We all come from the Goddess
And to Her we have returned;
As our ancestors Worshipped Her
Air, land and sea.
Hoof and horn, hoof and horn,
All that dies shall be reborn.
Corn and grain, corn and grain,
All that falls shall rise again
At midnight Crimson Fire raised his hands "Now it is time, it is Time,
Here stands young Sam son of Blue Dragon, he has passed the tests
Now it is Time for him to take his Druid's name and follow our ways."
.
He bowed first to the North, then to the East and South finally West
He struck the ground with his twisted sacred staff in each direction
then they all chanted
A Bhrid, ar goroi, an-gheal Bheanrion; (ah vree, ar gree, ahn-yawl von-reen)
Lo de thoil e beannachta sinn. (low da dolly bah-nacht-tah sheen)
Is sinn bhur leanai, is tu ar mamai (iss sheen vur lanni, iss too ar mom-wee)
Bi ag isteacht duinn mar sin. (be ah gay-stot dween mar shin)
Is tu an coire, anois inar doire; (iss too ahn hweer-ah, ah-neesh in-ar deer-ah)
A Bhean-domhan tinfim orainn. (ah van-dowan tin-feem or-rin)
A thine ghra, a thine bheatha; (ah hinna hrah, a hinna byah)
Lo de thoil e ag teacht Bhrid duinn! (low da doily ah tockt vree dween)
They then anointed Sam with sacred herbs and Crimson Fire held up Sam's hand
"Here stands Fire Eagle mark him well he will be a great healer in years to come."
They closed the circle with a feast of forest fruits, nuts, seeds and blackberries.
Finally before they all went their separate ways they joined hands and chanted
Siuil linn a Oghma...
("shool-leen ah oh...mah")
...Walk with us Ogma.
Siuil linn a Mhanannon...
("shool-leen ah wah-na-non")
...Walk with us Manannon.
As Crimson Fire and Fire Eagle left the Grove he gave an old twisted sacred staff
to Fire Eagle "use it for good always and it will guide you in nature's ways.
The years passed by and still Fire Eagle remained with Crimson Fire learning
until one day Crimson Fire said "it is now my time I want it to be you who
carry's out The Ritual Of Passage for me. I leave you my sword and staff
and this house. "Then he laid down and slowly softly his breathing slowed.
With a final soft sigh his spirit left his earthly body for the OtherWorld.
Fire Eagle was both sad and glad as he knew that after a while he would return
in a different form, maybe a tree or animal or as a human that is the druid way.
