dissect me into patterns tear out veins and rearrange explore me in full colour I'm a map of new terrain please expose my innards don't forget my eyes leave me speaking beyond death let me swerve off course from lines introduce insects beneath my skin track the path they choose mark down their exploration all in pursuit of truth whisper in my ear about beauty stroke my skin as you unveil I'm so dedicated to knowing this cold embrace cannot derail let me stain glass and create interest beyond the bore of my own mind unhook my jaw if I'm too much place it out of reach take just what you need there's trust in what you preach I know I'm one of many that fascinated for a while but let's relive the good times then frame them all to keep I wouldn't want to waste myself on just any smooth talking creep let every intersection act like a refrain body, blood and energy all singing without pain I'm confident I'll regroup stride off with my head held high I didn't give too much of self definitely held back this time

Di11y, you have a remarkable talent for describing and inventing what's in a painting like this. The summation at the end is really very funny. After all the image undergoes then just saying the involvement was not that important! It gave me an odd feeling of an unpleasant relationship. On the other hand, moving on with self esteem intact after is pretty good, and we don't really know until we try (lol). Smiles!!!

I made myself laugh with the last 4 lines to be fair :) I love diving into paintings and fully immersing in every brush stroke - it's like the story waits there for me. I never knew before I became a poet how into art I was - this kind of immersive writing is such fun. Thanks for your comment

I can definitely make out three humanoid faces and perhaps an animal’s head to the top left of the middle one, I wonder if I walked past while observing would more eyes pop out and follow me, your poem totally recombobulates the discombobulated painting, with some genius lines (unhook my jaw for talking too much) (a body, blood and energy all singing without pain) stained glass fits in perfectly too, absolutely brilliant last line, nails this piece to the wall, cheers David

It's absolutely amazing art work with such sinister slasher movie vibes. I was in a mini writing slump, so I surprised myself when these lines (written amidst a million distractions) came in response to it. Hopefully I can re-enter the zone and get this contest ready. Think I'll treat it like a new poem and post the final version separately, I quite enjoy the concept of seeing poetry evolve. I'll keep my last line though :) thanks for the encouraging feedback

The eyes always tell the story. How many smooth talking creeps are in the world, just watching and waiting to take your blood. Did you hold back.

Haha purely fictional, I'm hoping I have adequate smooth talking creep detection. A good job too it seems lol

You have a great talent for interpreting paintings Dilly, you get right into the heart and soul of them. That's a spooky looking painting with your poem. Hope you're enjoying the spring sunshine, sadly rain is enroute. Tom
