The Bird Lady
His thoughts do wander high as his heart cries
Catching the wings of a sparrow above
One escaping to warmer southern skies
Intoxicated with the weight of love
The hand awaits for the bird to alight
Thoughts hanker back to a meadow so sweet
This tiny bird in need of rest from flight
He found those two hands to settle and greet
With eyes blind to the world, they dare to breach
To feast sip and sup until they both end
Etiquette can't stop their two hearts which reach
That sanctuary, love, where hearts do blend
That place we hold in secret, you and me.
To hold each forever so tenderly.
