The Bird Cage
THE BIRD CAGE
she warms her cage
with sweetest sound
bars and flowing gold surround
the mood of those
folk scattered about
is fraught with lazy laughter
no matter a stranger –
the bird the song
the flowing gold will capture
oh the bird has more
more than just one tune
she sings of joy or songs of gloom
whatever she chirps
the sound contagious
her nightly fans at times outrageous
on pity the songstress
no happy lot
being caught within bars she’d rather not
