Spotlit By Grace
As wearily, tearfully, one prays,
Caught in the spotlight
Of a softly streaming moon,
Who wafts her brilliance through
crossed boughs, blown
By a gentle breeze’s word
through pine-trees’ canopy,
To make the branches nod
and wave and sing in regal harmony
That doleful tune and echo the rhythm
Of troubled hearts, and with its psalm
Touch tenderly the freezing soul within:
Take in there God’s peace, His grace:
Realize that this light inspires, reminds
that prayers sent up are always heard
and no one is ever truly alone.
