When I awake to dawn’s light
I long to pray for God’s insight
For His grace through the day
And mercy to help me along my way
When I feel alone and afraid
I go to God with all my thoughts
Reach out to Him with sincerity
And He always answers reassuringly
When I lose my hope in tomorrow
I whisper a prayer for His guidance
He always encourages me to keep going
And believe in the prayer He honors
When I need a friend that will be there
I open my heart to the One I love most
The friend who is there through the end
Answering my prayers with gentle promise
When I can’t find the right path to take
I welcome His word and its uplifting directions
That will always reveal to me the right way
To find the greatest hope, faith and love
When I think of committing a sin I know is wrong
I simply can’t comprehend why I’m so uncertain
He takes me by the hand and leads me to His word
Where I find the answers to defeat my sinful nature
When I want to achieve the dreams I’ve had
I long for God’s strength to overflow my heart
And His help to send me truth and wisdom
So that I can know my ideas are inspired by Him
When I lie down at night to drift off to sleep
I always know I’m being guarded by His presence
And I never need to worry about being afraid
Because He’s forever alive, lighting my spirit afire
