So You Say

Do you say "Ouch" when you're all by yourself and there's no one to hear the pain? Do you say "Oops!" when you're there all alone and you know the wine's gonna stain? Do you say "I love you" when she walks in the door though you're actually hot for Sharlene? Do you say "But what'll I do?" when she goes out the door and doesn't come in again? Do you say you're sorry when really you're not, but it's the only thing that'll do To bring her back home to share in your lot of ouches and oopses, the old deja vu? Do you say you love her because that Sharlene has just shot through with some other guy from the job? Do you say that you love her a lot... and you've been all along meaning to...? Then do.

Very witty; while amusing also sound advice. Wise and thoughtful.

Yes we take for granted the one that's there for our ouches and oop's until they are not there. Your poem is thought provoking, yet very easy to read. Thank you Elizabeth I enjoyed this very much.

Thank you, Andrew. Fortunately now my double o's are seen as extremely funny by my children and grandchild! Currently this week, we have: do ya know where g'ma found her hearing aids? In her shoe!! Ha-Ha and so on. Elizabeth

Now I know why my wife is not as keen on me as she might be: Who wants to share in my 'ouches' and 'oopses!' Thanks for the hint, hint, hint, Elizabeth. With gratitude, Mr. Husband

I am sure, dear Gersh, aka Mr. Husband, that for every calamity you have a bon mot which sends Mrs. wolf into spasms of mirth as she pounds your head with the fry pan. Liz

The apple of one's eye as the other eyes the orchard, Elizabeth, as monogamy in relationships undergo redefining--well expressed, my friend, Aloha William

Thank you, William. Not a transient problem as witnessed poor Freud trying to analyse Vienna! Elizabeth

Poets write about the lies lovers tell, but few write about the lies we tell ourselves! Well thought and done! Aloha!

Thanks, Vickey. Spider is such a good word for it, the webs people weave when they have no idea of the truth of themselves. The life unexamined. Elizabeth

Strangely, they seem to always experience themselves as the victims of events, never as having set the stage, written the script and sought out the actors! So it never gets solved. Sad. Elizabeth
