Respect

Johnny's such a darling boy, happy and delightful Until he gets inside the store, then he's Freddy frightful He cries and screams and throws a fit, just to get his way Mommy buys him what he wants with nothing more to say A kindly gentleman asks the boy, "Are you happy now" Johnny looks him in the eye, then rudely answers "yow" On television everyday on family TV shows They ask the questions to the kids, they just say "Yow" and "No" Whatever happened to respect and proper etiquette Folks these days don't teach their kids, one day they will regret. Back in the day when I was young, we said "Yes sir", "No ma'am" Otherwise the folks I had would bust your little ham So if your young with family, please take friendly advice Teach your kids to have respect and in public to be nice If I see Johnny where I shop and he throws a little fit I'm going to get right in your face and raise all kinds of $**t

Once upon a time, when my daughters were very young, my father lectured me on how rowdy they seemed in comparison to my elder brother's brood. I remember feeling sad, because I knew he would not live to see how well they would turn out in the end. I get your point all the same Daniel. Well said.

As far as I can tell Elvis was the last one to talk that way.

I don't know about Ireland, but here in the state it's out of control. Parents no longer teach children to behave in public. Nor do they say "yes sir" or "no sir" or "yes ma'am" or "no ma'am". If you ask the a question they say "Huh". My daddy would've slapped the s**t out of me then slapped me for s***ing. Learn some respect! Right?

I'm not too worried about that, besides if they're too afraid to correct their own kid they ain't gonna have the balls to say anything to me. I'm glad you appreciated my little rhyme:) Peace

Hi Daniel: There's a lot of truth in what you say where it is now taken for granted. Great poem!

Thank you, Ralph. I was trying to be humorous but still make a point. Respect is all but just a word of the past. How sad. I really appreciate you stopping by to read and comment. Peace my friend:)
