Procrastination
Today is submission day,
because I have the day off from my job
and had this all planned.
Actually, it was planned for Monday –
but today I will be serious.
I even opened all the right folders.
But first I unload the dish washer.
Then the cat litter box requires attention,
and the sink needs scrubbing.
Facebook is not a waste of time if I just share
what awesome work my friends do, right?
That counts as productive.
I make myself some tea. Hydration
is important. And I haven’t had breakfast.
An avocado sounds good.
I discovered that writing amazon reviews is fun.
It’s a skill I need to work on.
Practice will be very useful.
There are all these books. Books I bought,
books from the library.
We all know reading makes you a better writer.
And I’ll write more morning pages.
That’s so satisfying, the feeling of the pen gliding on ink.
And it kind of counts as writing.
And now I am writing a poem about procrastinating.
To put off the inevitable decision making,
second guessing, overthinking.
But once this is done, I will start.
Seriously.
