Southern Potato Salad Recipe | gritsandpinecones.com

I boil eggs and potatoes, chopping them up with celery and onions to mix well with mayo. This is my picnic's delish side DISH! (Truly my favorite food at a cookout! I wanted to use "cookout" instead of picnic in line 5, but for some reason the syllable counter puts it as a 3-syllable word and that just isn't true!!) For M.L. It is two syllables! Those syllable counters drive me bananas! What happened to the day when we could sound out the word and voila! I love potato salad. It will go well with my hotdogs on the grill.

WoW! Andrea, That looks yummy! Your shape looks like a bowl too. A cookout isn’t quite right without some good ole potato salad. I can tell that you know how to make it too. So when can I come over? Best wishes in the contest:-)Alexis

Looks, delicious. Good luck in the contest. I agree, two syllables. I've heard it pronounced pick-a-nick before, which would make it three, but that's just not the way to say it, is it? Have a relaxing weekend my friend, Bill

the problem is not with picnic. the stupid syllable counter thinks that "cookout's" has three syllables. Because of the 's?? So stupid.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat anything but steak, but enjoyed your rant about dictionary syllable counts versus spoken syllables! Too true! Aloha!

If you had my mouth problem, you would not eat steak either. My problem makes it a horrible sensation to have something of steak's texture in my mouth . anyway, I grew up with a mom that made the best potato salad ever. Truly, i was the only one eating almost all of it while everyone else ate other things at our picnic.
