Eight Words 2 Contest hosted by Joseph May ~ August 12, 2024

On dreary morns when rain is nigh I'm weary of the misty sky when Autumn's season comes to call and russet leaves begin to fall. To Summer I whisper, "Goodbye." The lilacs petals wilt and die. Blustery winds cause me to sigh. Can't cajole them to stop or stall on dreary morns. No slumber when things are awry. Maybe an etching I should try. Strumming my guitar won't forestall time that now has come to a crawl. Foul weather I can't mollify on dreary morns.

I have no idea what a Rondeau is, Lin, and I don’t really care because this reads just great whatever the specs suggest. That was one disjointed (no offence, Joseph) set of words and you wove them together seamlessly. If you hadnt hi-lighted the words I wouldn't have guessed you were sticking to a preordained criteria. Nice one. I’m sure you’ll place high. Terry

Thank you very much for your words of praise, or encouragement that I even know what a Rondeau is, Terry. you can write any form if you want to.

Dear Lin, It is always fun to read your poems and I love that you take those words and give them meaning. How great is that! Do you actually play the guitar? I play most days and my granddaughters love it. I hope you do well in the contest! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I am not musically inclined at all, Daniel, other than singing when no one can hear me. lol Thanks for always reading me and leaving your thoughts.

Well Lin, you certainly did a great job weaving these disparate group of words together seamlessly into a wonderful Rondeau, got to be a great one for contest, cheers David

I saw the words and had the same thought, but it was the challenge that made me give them a try. Thanks a bunch for thinking it works, David. Rondeau is not a form I've written a lot, so we shall see.

I don't mind too much when summer bows out as I love the autumn, the rain, not so much. Already the leaves are starting to change here. Tom

Autumn is also my favorite season, like you, Tom, but I wanted to use "when leaves begin to fall." lol It's still too darn hot here. Thanks, Tom.

Good luck in the contest, Lin. Loved that first stanza. Though I love winter, there's something very tragic about the end of summer. I like your use of imagery in this piece. God job!

I don't mind leaving Summer behind. It's been temps of near 100 for weeks so, Autumn will be a welcome change. Thanks for the review and good wishes, Eileen.
