LOL! Gershon, I have the same trouble every spring. The same woodpecker I call him the (The 3 Stooges) 4th Stooge, "Nit Wit" (LoL) I have a "Metal" vent pipe. He is bound and determined to make a home there. You need to hear that at 7 a.m. in the morning. I loved the limerick. Blessings ~ Debra

No thanks. I'll wait until about 10 a.m. for that woodpecker. (By then, I'm out of the house for quite awhile). ~ Going Deaf

Ha! They're wonderful when they are in the woods where they are supposed to be. A giant pileated woodpecker on the trail the other day would fly ahead, hide behind a tree, and stick his head out to look, first from one side, then the other. When I got close, repeat. Nice

'Pileated' - that's a new one for me, Jeff. I see that this kind of woodpecker is an 'insectivore.' Thanks for the education, gw

Lol, those woodpeckers are such rascals, I guess they are busy everywhere, here too! You are so kind :) I am tired of fixing holes in our house, but they seem to find it great fun! ~BJ

Those woodpeckers are, indeed, 'holy birds,' BJ -- esp. when it comes to knocking holes in our houses. lol. Thanks, gw

I sense a gentle, humane/spiritual message in this poem Gershon. Kindness and wisdom...ab

The woodpeckers tapping sound is so sonorous, but your limerick on them is indeed very sweet, Gershon !

'Sonorous' -- I like that. You are a very tolerant person, Valsa. ~ Woody Woodpecker
