My Unforgivable Sin

A few days before Thanksgiving, My sister was not among the living. Time to celebrate and be giving Without her, was emotional missing. Day of giving thanks and blessings With strong friends and family bonding Instead mourning and weeping When our hearts were breaking. I stare, unable to utter a sound, bagging To wake up from this nightmare; hiding The pain, but I can't stop shuddering. How does one deal with the death of a sibling? My unforgivable sin of my grief; If only I knew that our time would be brief. I would say I love you with lots of hugging. 11/10/2021 ''U'' Contest, New Poems Only Poetry Contest 3. unforgivable Sponsored by: Constance La France

"How does one deal with the death of a sibling?" I am so glad that I have no idea about this yet. I am fortunate.

Sad you couldn't but grieve over the loss of a sibling when the season demands that hearts should brim with gratitude. Losing one's brother or sister is an experience of intense pain. Hope this is just fictional. However the poem is beautifully poignant with the strong element of pathos!

it's very true, it was in my home when when passed, she was 21 and left a 1 year old son behind.

I had never seen death until my father at 64 died of cancer - a man of 94 kilos reduced to a 40 kilos skeleton. My mother and I and a care giver, one of us, were constantly by his side we took it in turns and it happened the care giver was with him, she screamed for us, we were in the kitchen having a cup of tea, we rushed in and just made it, he was in the throes of a heart attack, to this day, I feel guilty I was not at his side because of a silly cup of tea. i so enjoyed your write, H&B Jen

Those first holidays and celebrations without a loved one are always the hardest. Missing their presence is even harder when we are reminded of things we wish we had said or done. So poignantly written, Eve. Hugs ~ John
