My Economic Woes Doze .

The Soup kitchen's queue are in line . The economy , banjaxed and dyin' . When Lehmans went bust The bankers just cussed So now , " Buddy who can spare a dime " ?. I called up my banker , by chance . With an invite to the " Poor Peoples " dance . He came dressed in rags With two plastic bags And the ass missing , from his old pants . No Ferraris or Mercs to be seen . For between us , we hadn't a bean . The soup it was cold And the bread , it had mould And Seamus the Chef , was a " Queen " . The dessert trolly started to shake . Baked Alaskas were fried like a steak . Amid all the wailin' In strolled Sarah Palin " Vote me in and I'll give you a break " . I awoke in a lather of sweat At the characters I had just met . With a sad sorry weep I went straight to sleep. "Snore it off , Seán , that's as good as 'twill get . Perspired by Carolyn's , Limerick contest ....

No Sean,it was England's victories over the old 'enemy' the Aussies, beating them at Criciket(with help from our Irish import) and Johnnos narrow win, via Wilko's boot once again. It's always good to get good weather when the days are longest it's what makes for a good summer.Hope it has been as fine in your parts of these Isles.Rgds Brian .

The FA will have this if we don't make the next round.Even then it could the Germans who( as always) are on song or uber alles as they would have it.It will take more than an Italian job now for us .Still its nice to see folk displaying our flag in the streets etc hereabouts for a change.Rgds Brian

I give you a top mark for the effort. One is colloquial and minor. But two is deliciously politically incorrect and three has the grit and the guts to take it out into controversy, which I like. Four has wicked wit, which is one of your greatest strengths, and five has resignation as resolution, which is fine. Good piece. I have always liked your novel approaches and originality. Being a fellow Irishman, I am proud of you! Regards and thanks, Gerard
