Posie
I don’t know who invented it but it has a rhyme scheme of ABABCC ABABDD, and a syllable pattern of 888844 888844 (looks good centered, but that’s optional)
I feel melancholy today
Autumn days have turned damp and cool.
And the sun wears a veil of grey
as the children head back to school,
trekking through mud
and piles of crud.
It's a depressing kind of day;
a scarecrow stands out like a fool,
the crops have long been stored away.
And as leaves fill my empty pool,
skeletal trees
fear Winter's freeze.
