I saw a comment from a friend on facebook (8th April 2016). An excerpt from a poet, philospher.... person.... It made me sad with its truthfulness, yet instilled me to write something to counter it. I know that life is not all a bed of roses... We have all been through bad times... Here is a little something that I HOPE will give some a reason to smile.... and SHOUT!!
I had cause to answer a relative of mine who had made a comment on my poem. She needed it, I think:
"The past has a tendency to anchor us all. It can affect and rule us if we let it. The past won't ever go away, but it is something that was, not is. Good, bad or indifferent, it has been and gone. It is up to each and every one of us to accept that and enjoy now. The present. We can't ponder on what might have been, because it is not. It was, but it is not. So, if we look at life with what we have, right now, and be thankful for - and use - the gifts of the senses we have (which so many people do not have), we will find that we can look forward and enrich our lives. We can share our experience with those who need it. We can use what life has given us as tools in making ourselves more complete. Not for one moment saying that the past does not revisit us. It does. Just saying let it be what it was because we can never change it. Enjoy now. Share... and give to others that gift that they may not have found yet.... Now. The present."
