Linnie Mae Ethel
Linnie Mae Ethel you were christened.
I never knew you by that name.
No one ever called you Linnie.
Now that really is a shame.
I surmise you didn't like it,
Ethel is the name you used.
Mother is the name I called you,
And all others I refused.
Even Daddy called you Mother.
Ethel too with love infused.
Total strangers called you Mrs.
Hoping you would like that best.
Each and every name but Mother
Lacked the flavor of our nest.
