Holographic forms formed life anew. As colorful lives on walls came true. These walls that held secrets from the past, Ancient secrets hushed unveiled at last. Hieroglyphs now waking with the dead, Deciphering gold mask upon the head Of the child King whose scepter he held tight Which morphed him into manhood overnight. Treasures that surround him in his tomb, His afterlife contained within that room. Unwary of the fate that will befall Archeologist's lives to one and all, Of the curse of death soon to transpire, Destroying fame and dreams of their desire. King Tut, his wrath now unleashed to defend Desecration of his eternal end. © May 29, 2016 Any Poem You Ever Wrote NOT For A Contest - Poetry Contest Sponsor Broken Wings Note: In Thebes Egypt in the Valley of the Kings in 1922 Archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the 3,000 year old tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun (aka King Tut) When Howard Carter opened the burial chamber of King Tut it was the first time anyone had seen the burial chamber of a Pharaoh, untouched since the Pharaoh's death in 1333 BC, the tomb was full of King Tut's possessions he would need in his afterlife. There was thought to be a curse of death on those disturbing his remains.

I like Egypt too. I deslike what they did with their amazing legacy. I was shocked when I found out they processed mummies into fertilizer. In terms of the ancient Egyptians, their descendants deprive them of eternal life.

I only knew about the cats that were used. They were not mummified cats, but cats used to make money and fool tourists which is so sad. Please send me a link if you can that says they used actual mummies. That would be terrible desecration. Thank you Kurt.: )

Being in Egypt several times, I never visited their empty graves and museums full of the dead. "Don't see some things up close". Great poem, Connie.

Thank you Kurt. I love Egyptology...any Egyptian artifacts. I have many replicas around my house some that I bought from the exhibit in Los Angeles I went to see when it was there. Their history is fascinating to me. : )

What a great write, Connie. I have always been fascinated by the pyramids and Egyptian mythology, so really enjoyed this. The dual lines about the sceptre / manhood were very astute. Regards, John.

Thank you very much John. I watch every program on Egypt I can find and I own several books about Egypt including the Book of the dead. I feel I have a connection with Egypt, perhaps from a past life. : )

Oh, I would go with you in a nano second Viv. I too love Egyptology. My bedroom and massage room contain many artifacts I have collected over the years. I got to see the King Tut exhibit when it last toured Los Angeles. I had to fly over and my friend took me to see it. I also got to visit the Louvre's Egypt exhibit in Paris in 2009. Thank you. Cheers, Connie ; )

Reminds me of the Steve Martin song about King Tut. I used to have a poster of the old boy on my wall. Good job! Peace & Live Matthew Anish

The dead should be respected and not dug up or removed from their resting place. This is the idea behind his curse. Thank you very much Arthur for your high rating. ; )

A great poem, Connie, and too bad you were late entering. Better than many I read (including my own that didn't place). Perhaps you can use it on another contest. Hugs, Sandra

Connie, by the way, I bet you might be able to use this in either Constance's or Rob's contest when they do those contests that allow sometimes not just N/A's but also ones never entered in a contest before. It's always good to have a few here at Soup when such a contest arises.

Egyptian culture still holds a lot of fascination for people ... so much still wrapped in mystery. Your opening stanza was my favorite , Connie ... though late in the contest, you still found your inspiration, which in the long run, is the most rewarding aspect. Nicely done.

If a child puts a curse on something then he must of had a very good reason. Perhaps being sealed up with a bunch of gold wasnt in his dreams. Interesting write Connie. Blessings Carl
