“True love is finding your soulmate in your best friend” - Faye Hall, My Gift to You

Listen to poem:
Hi. Have we met before? Your smile, it just reminds me Of some friends in Singapore Or maybe it was Europe.. As we travelled there by rail A skiing trip perhaps Or hike on forest trail? There's something quite familiar.. So sorry if I stare. The way you laugh, so lovely Like no thing can quite compare Ah.. I'll have it in a minute All I really need is time To delve into my memories Find that reason for this rhyme But then it suddenly dawns upon My fumbling failing mind.. We've never met, it's simply that I recognise my kind A soul that shares an outlook A spirit that will croon The song I have been longing for; That sympathetic tune Our paths they crossed and maybe Not by accident at all A greater plan unfolding Like some writing on a wall You bring a kind of peace to me It's tricky to explain Like shelter in a blizzard A leafy canopy in rain I can only say I'm grateful That our paths have crossed this way Would you walk a little further? As I'd like if you could stay :)

I too, really love this poem dear Sam with your perfect narration - ah, those dulcet tones! Seriously, I’ve been thinking that you could record some great audio books my friend! Back to the poem - I’ve read and listened several times and your lovely words and the way you recite/ your delivery, well, I think actually Paddington is perfect for this as I could hear his voice saying them. I love Paddington! (big kid that I am) Your own style is really emerging- you have a gift of making your poems

Oh Christina:) what can I say to all of that affirmation? Your kindness overwhelms x I think this is one of my favourites, the Singapore reference is a nod to my late dad who spent his time there as a young man. Strangely, Paddington was a late after-thought but you are right in that he works. Glad I spotted it too. Bless you dear friend, lovely to hear from you S :) xx

so personal as you address the reader ( the actor in you) I’m always enthralled when reading your work - they are captivating my friend. ‘ I recognise my kind’. How true! This is so delightful. The last stanza is gorgeous. Loved it! Have a great weekend. X :):)

I love this poem, Sam, and your narration is excellent, as always. I know the feeling so well A Déjà vu nostalgic feeling. I put it down to having met in a past lifetime. My overimaginative mind is already putting this to video mode. I will think about it, and see if I've got some Paddington Bear footage. Hugs

You are a wonderfully creative person! Bless you for your encouragement and support. That would be fun (although the image was a little bit of a random choice - it does kind of fit) :) Sx

lovely, just lovely! I love the theme and nature of this poem. I believe coincidences happen more frequently than I notice...this seems to be a poem of coincidence, a happenstance meeting perhaps on another plane or another lifetime? :-) just thinking. Am faving this one, Sara

You are lovely, Sara. There is often a spiritual connection with a person and things just click. In Celtic spirituality, they talk of souls, being formed from the same clay of the earth, recognising each other.. thanks as always. Blessings. Sx
